What would be your top 5 drafts?Vin Tanner wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 8:54 amRight now it doesn’t sniff the top 5Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 8:48 am Will the 2017 draft go down as one of the greatest Canuck drafts ever?

BTW, not saying I think this is one of the best Canucks drafts either. After Petey only Rathbone is looking like a NHLer right now.

Re: 2017 Re-draft
Looking at the all-time Canucks draft... it is SO bad, is there even a top 5? Honestly?
Also, what is the criteria? Games played in a Canucks uniform or total NHL games?
I might go with 1978 as my top #1, followed by 2004.

1999 is the best draft, 1978, 1979 top 3Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 10:23 am Looking at the all-time Canucks draft... it is SO bad, is there even a top 5? Honestly?

1983, 1985, 1992 were solid drafts
I think criteria would be NHL games played. Guys like Neely, Larionov, Vaive, Derlago etc were good picks even though they were given away.

Re: 2017 Re-draft
^ I wouldn't argue with this. 1979 was also very good.Vin Tanner wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 11:06 am1999 is the best draft, 1978, 1979 top 3.Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 10:23 am Looking at the all-time Canucks draft... it is SO bad, is there even a top 5? Honestly?

Clearly 1999 was the most historically significant draft for this franchise, but I also look at how it was the worst draft in NHL history. Sure didn't look like it would pan out for us in the first 4-5 years. And being a Sedin fan from day 1, I didn't want to sound too biased either. Quality-wise, definitely the best.
Also, I based my selections on the total picks from that year that benefitted the Canucks the most and not for other teams.
This makes me quite sad.Vin Tanner wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 11:06 am I think criteria would be NHL games played. Guys like Neely, Larionov, Vaive, Derlago etc were good picks even though they were given away.
Actually, from 1977-1981 was a very decent period for this franchise.

Well in fairness, if they get 3 solid NHLers out of 1 draft, that is pretty good, right?Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 1:05 pmHaha that took all of an hour to metastasizeVin Tanner wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 12:59 pmChef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 8:48 am Will the 2017 draft go down as one of the greatest Canuck drafts ever?
