Who knows, he did coach Shanny in 05/06.

Maybe he has that BB size head and thinks he is the missing link to bringing a Cup back to TO and it would be the greatest achievement on the planet.

True enough, and TO would likely have the most $$ to offer.

Keep in mind his wife has two votes to his one as to where he ends up.

I think she picks Southern California or a Canadian market.

Babcock has stated money is not a concern (because he's going to get $5M-per period).

I think you were right the first time: He wouldn't want the shitshow in TO.

Also, I think Babs + Shanny still don't get along to this day:

The way Babcock talks, this is 100% true!

Like Miller's wife, she would prefer a Cali team.

But perhaps like Miller's wife, she would settle on Hollywood North?

If I were Canucks' GM I'd stab Willie in the back and go after Babcock.

But then I'm an asshole.

It would be the same kind of Out-With-the-Old-In-With-the-New situation

... as when he first came to Detroit.

Sens get Matt O'Connor.

So I wonder if Markstrom or Lack gets dealt for a pick still?
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

It would be dangerous trading Lack? It's gotta be Markstrom now to be dealt

While Lack may get us the better return I agree it is a risky move.

Markstrom probably won't clear waivers again and part of his cap counts against the Canucks cap. You trade him for a third or package him for something else.

Edmonton is looking but will Chiarelli want to go with inexperience?

SJS have said they are looking for a goalie in his age group.

Arizona will be looking.

Carolina wants to start getting separation from Ward.

Philadelphia is always looking.

There will be teams that will be interested in Markstrom but alone all we get is a third or fourth. If interest is high, maybe, a stretch, but maybe a second.

But, the big but, Lack will get us a much better return. If the Canucks think Markstrom is ready for back they may take that risk.

I don't think it would be terribly dangerous to trade Lack. It means we are running with Miller as the starter and Markstrom gets a shot to prove he's the backup, and then hopefully Demko is ready to take the next step.

Markstrom's playoff numbers in the AHL are fantastic right now.

Yeah don't think the Oilers can sit through waiting for a goalie prospect to develop, they have to start winning now and their goalie situation is awful. Get a quality vet and if they were smart they'd use their 16th overall pick and draft top goslie prospect - Ilya Samsonov, the kid is quite good.

Agreed, Lack would def' give us better value in return, as for Markstrom we'd basically be giving him away due to lack of NHL experience.

I'd rather get a good pick from Lack and develop Markstrom behind Miller, I'd say Marky has a rough start but he'll pick it up once he settles in and realizes Willie won't send him down after one bad game.

Benning has said, depending upon Thatcher's continued development next year they may try to convince him to turn pro a year earlier. I'd say losing out on O'Connor makes this more probable. One more year at Boston then maybe we see Thatcher jump to Utica the end of next season.

Leaves ask for and get permission to talk to Babcock. According to Damian Cox the leaves are prepared to offer the moon to get their man.

Quote of the day from some random leaves fan:

Book it: Babcock will go to the leaves or he will stay in Detroit because super competitive people don't want a ready-made situation. The leaves can offer him something no one else can: the chance to develop his own team, the most money, and a chance to work in one of the most progressive front offices in the NHL. (Yeah it sounds weird to say that). They also can offer him the GM job without actually making him a "real" or "traditional" GM.

Pittsburgh now out of the Babcock sweeps.

Edmonton said to be ready to make McLellan an offer in anticipation that Babcock is not interested in signing in Edmonton. They don't want McLellan talking to too many teams but, well, he is kinda busy over in Prague right now.

Problem being there are a lot of quality goalies out there that will be on the market. A bit of a goalie glut right now with some very good back ups around the league ready to step into no. 1.

I still say it's too dangerous to trade Lack banking on Markstrom playing well in the NHL and old man Miller staying healthy and good
