Cap space is an asset but only if the names aren’t Eriksson and Sutter ... gotcha.
Yeah I don’t think I’d be talking much about asset management when my favourite GM trades a potential lottery pick for a player who couldn’t crack the top three lines on a good team.
He might get a late first back for Miller if he traded him.... great. The Lightning won’t be picking late in the first round with that pick.
I could care less what the Flyers do or don’t get back for Hayes if they choose to deal him. They don’t have a bunch of shitty contracts like Vancouver does.
THIS trade wasn’t smart for THIS team not even three years into a rebuild.
Then again some people have no patience for a rebuild.

You want to spin this in a knot, fill your boots. The Flyers spent a 5th on a similar player.
The Flyers get it. Elmer ... and clearly you... don’t.
Blob is now playing checkers with his straw man.
He's so blinded by his hatred, now he's sticking up for the Hayes contract, considered by many outside the 1040 bubble to be the worst in recent memory.
And signed before the final cap number was known like it's amateur hour, yet blob still defends it!
What’s worst is Blob doesn’t seem to understand that the Jets traded the rights to negotiate with a UFA - Hayes. A player they rented and were never going to resign. “Flyers only had to give up a 5th for Hayes! Jiminy Cricketts!”
And then the contract freak out machine - McKenzie conveniently ignores the massive overpayment the Flyers gave UFA Hayes while we get the 26 year old Miller at a bargain for 4 years
Pure Comedy

These last two years on Sutters contract (15 team no trade list) at $4.325 Million per is not a bad contract, but continue on Blobbee son.

I have come around on the deal, doesn't mean I love it, but I can live with it. The first is a bit of a steep price to pay and, yes, I would have preferred to see it spend on a quality D man, but I can live with. We don't want to be the new Oilers. I am assuming that Miller gels well with Pettersson or Horvat but I think we have a solid top 6 now. Goaltending is fine, now it is on Benning to fill the gaps in the D. Also, it is important to make sure our young stars, and we have more than a few of them now, do not get that losing culture ingrained into them. This trade was not done in a vacuum and we can't forget that. Personally, I believe Eriksson is done in Vancouver. I have the feeling that Virtannen will be gone too, part of a package to get another D man. Hutton looks like he will not be qualified too, which does surprise me as I would have thought he would be part of the package to bring back another D man. Change is coming. Do I think we will make the playoffs this upcoming season? I am assuming we are not riddled with injuries again. Actually I do, especially if Boeser does not miss any time in the season (preseason and regular). The 2020 pick is lottery protected and if the 2021 pick turns out to be a lottery one and we lose it, well pretty much, we need to do a new rebuild then and a new management group.

His contract like Louie’s has been horrific since the day he signed it. But please carry on ...

Why debate with Blobbee sox Narrative?

Try to keep up youngster, Dud was going on about the price Winnipeg paid for three months of Hayes which was completely irrelevant to the bounty Brisebois extracted from Lennie Small. Either way the Flyers didn’t pay a 1st (a good chance of being a lottery pick) and a 3rd for Hayes. The Flyers paid too much cash but not much in assets.
Right the flyers didn't give up a 1st, instead they grossly overpaid for 7 years. Cap space is an asset. Try to keep up.
Let me try to simplify it for you - do you think anybody would give the flyers a 1st for Hayes on his contract? At any point in the next 7 years, will he have that value?
If Benning traded Miller tomorrow, do you think he'd get a 1st back?

A lottery 1st and a 3rd for Tampa’s 10th best forward is a bargain. A guy who is in his 3rd team in two years and has had his intensity and effort questioned by AV and Jon Cooper.
A bargain !!!!

You really probably shouldn’t. You and the other puppets have been lit up like a Christmas Tree
