Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
BTW you can't place a player on LTIR until after the 2nd game of the season. Since when? All teams must be cap compliant by 5pm the day after training camps end. Players can be placed on LTIR starting day 1. Actually it's Day 2. https://twitter.com/davegisaac/status/347774877467549696 Every Flyers ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Seriously, Liles + his contract = so horrible I just can't see this happening with the crappy Leaf prospects . You don't think Colorado (10M in cap space) would take Liles if he came with Tyler Biggs or Joe Colbourne for a guy like Desbiens? BTW you can't place a player on LTIR until after the 2nd ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
As in, when the buyout window opens again next summer? IIRC, all buyouts are done until next summer...Strangelove wrote:
.... just in time for the coming Liles buyout to hit the books!
The leaves only options are to trade, waive, or stick him in the minors and save themselves $900K on the cap.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
No yeah they're looking at being stuck with Liles and having to dump a good player. My guess is they WILL dump Liles in a same type of deal they were on the receiving end of when they got Franson by also accepting Lombardi. Trading Liles and a prospect to get him off their books. Taking back nothin...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Franson now holds the hammer. Next summer he has the considerable leverage of exercising his arbitration rights and unless the cheeseburgler overpays he will automatically be awarded a 1 year deal for well north of 5 then be UFA the summer after. Huge win for Cody....even more than I initially thou...

If there is a team softer than the Canucks in our division, it is the Oilers.rats19 wrote:Sam glassjaw Gagne

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
"$45.5 Million Dollars over 7 years for Alex Pietrangelo in St.Louis." ~John Shannon Damn, that's a great cap hit and term for a guy who will likely be a Norris contender for years to come. St. Loo's blue line is stacked. Really good deal for St Louis. Same cap hit as Phaneuf and Karlsson. $500,000...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I think Franson takes a similar deal. They can still trade JML to a team that needs the cap and a D'man. Look for a deal similar to the Ehrhoff to Vancouver deal. I guess MayRay won't be given a contract though. Nonis will somehow make it work, he has time until the season starts. Capgeek says Lile...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
The point is not "who'd you rather"... it's that Luongo can play above the level of his deal. It's not an expensive cap-hit. He's more than capable of being a top-10 goalie in the NHL. Rather than being an albatross, his deal is a benefit to the Canucks. I don't give a fuck if it becomes a bad deal ...

16 games? Right on. Alex Chiasson is the best goal scorer in the NHL then.BigTuna wrote: Everyone said that last year and he repeated it.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
War of Words going on in Ottawa. The League says they won't investigate this, but if I'm the New Jersey Devils I'm asking "Why not!?" Alfredsson admits he and the Senators planned to circumvent the salary cap and that he planned to retire before this past season (where he made only $1M) so that the ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Given those #'s, Hank had 40% more assists and 18% more points. So what was your point? His point is that his math is about as sound as his ability to judge hockey players. I am all for starting anew without the twins in 14-15 but the mouth breathers who keep advocating this have yet to come up wit...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
My guess is that the desire to win the 2014 Olympic tournament may be a huge part of why Kovie decided to break his contract. He is sacrificing his current career to pursue his childhood dream, to reach the ultimate pinnacle in hockey, the Olympic gold. This is probably the best shot he will ever g...
