Re: Muzac For Munsters

There was a second, even older, smaller Pantages theater farther up Hastings near Main. It was finally destroyed in 2011 but not before the city dicked around for a while going through the motions of trying to save it. This one was still open in the mid seventies as the City Nights and my friends an...

Re: The Brexit disaster

The two European countries most likely to swing for sovereignty in the near future are Scotland and Northern Ireland. And then they’ll apply for EU membership. As jubilant Brexit supporters gather to celebrate the U.K.’s departure from the European Union, Scotland is digging in to its posi...

Re: Muzac For Munsters

Ok. That area was the original downtown core. The original one yes. By the sixties it was being challenged by Granville. Eaton's was the first to make the move and gradually everything followed. It kind of seems like the city actually planned to turn it into skid row. Back then the skid was to the ...

Right next to that empty lot where the junkies have their garden on Hastings across from the Army and Navy.

Something called the Portland Hotel is there now and a fringe of red bricks from the Pantages can still be seen on it's west side corner..

Re: Muzac For Munsters

I think there's a slum building there now probably with junkies living in it. That was still the shopping and entertainment district in the sixties.

Re: Muzac For Munsters

Starting with demolishing the Pantages Majestic on Hastings for a parking lot in the sixties. That place made the Orpheum look like a dump in comparison believe it or not. I hadn't heard of that one before - had to Google it - http://www.pstos.org/instruments/bc/vancouver/pantages.htm Stunning! Whe...

Re: Muzac For Munsters

Vancouver was such a cool place before mass migration turned it into whatever the fuck it is now. That's right. And talk about service , well so my Dad use to tell me... Yep. Your dad was right Micky. Those were the days. I have this dystopian vision where one day everything finally locks up and gr...

Amen brothers, the planners are criminals and always have been. Starting with demolishing the Pantages Majestic on Hastings for a parking lot in the sixties. That place made the Orpheum look like a dump in comparison believe it or not. We just can't have nice things here it seems.

Re: Muzac For Munsters

Sometimes I like to sit back in the recliner and twisted up a fatty of Congolese with some kif or rosin mixed in and listen to classic old time country narrations and truck driving songs like this one:
