Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Burmistrov...a skinny guy who is easily knocked off the puck. I realize he's Russian and this type of thing is always possible but it makes one wonder if Mason Raymond is having issues finding employment in the NHL this offseason. As much as I can see Raymond can move the play forward (then promptl...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Yeah Semin is a poor comparable. He's Russian which clearly makes many GMs cagey, he barely speaks the language and doesn't fit in well with many teammates, his own team walked away from him which I'm sure raises even more question marks for some. Kessel is not the stereotypical "good Canadian (Nor...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Comparing Perry and Getzlaf to Kessel is laughable. Not if your Kessel's agent. Kessel has produced more points than both those guys over the past couple seasons. He'll get paid, and it will be for more than Semin (who's never been a top-10 scorer). LOL! Good point on the part about Kessel's agent....

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I realize that it's de rigueur around here to hate the leaves and all their works, but this trade provides further evidence of what is already clear: Phil Kessel is better than Tyler Seguin. Hamilton might still end up tipping the scales but on the whole that trade is not as bad as it is made out t...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Now the trade between Boston/Dallas is a blockbuster. Makes everything MG has done look like chump change. Also Boston is not worried about changing the core when needed, again not something MG would ever do. Yes I understand these deals don't happen a lot and you need 2 teams to tangle, yada yada ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
The Flyers are strapped but not really with Prongers $5 mil a year counting towards the cap. He'll never play again. They might not be able to use the LTIR space (if he isn't on the roster to begin the season), but they have room right now despite what capgeek thinks. (capgeek I think also has them...

The Flyers are strapped now. Edler's $5M or Ballard's $4M aren't salaries they'll be taking on.....

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I was shocked he turned down that offer. Man thats 7 million per. But I guess there are still a few teams around with the cap space to give him more. I'll be surprised if any of them actually do offer him more than that. Toronto would be the only one, but only if they move Phaneuf. Letang is better...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
TSN is reporting that Letang has turned down $56M over 8 years. Apparently he's worth more than $7M?
I really don't know who is going to give him more than that.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
June 24th, 2006, the Toronto maple leaves traded Tuuka Rask to the Boston Bruins for Andrew Raycroft because they believed Justin Pogge was their goaltender of the future. And what a great day that turned out to be for the rest of the hockey world.....we are still laughing. * quickly Sweeps Cam Nee...

Re: Home Construction Discussion
Looks like this summer will bring us a new master bathroom and a new deck, plus a few other small things. Bathroom being forced on us. We had massive problems with this house, replaced all the plumbing refinished the basement. Now there is a leak under the bathtub. Found out about 6 months ago that ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Jason Pomminville took a vicious elbow to the head from Dustin Brown last night. If the league doesn't suspend Brown for the remainder of the season.....well I won't be surprised, but it will be complete bullshit if they do nothing. Terrible response from Minnesota though, that was just dirty and no...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
Offensively, Raymond isn't much better than Higgins. Overall, Higgins brings a lot more to the table than Raymond. I would rather MG spend the money to upgrade the bottom six grit and toughness or the bottom d-pairing. Generally speaking, this season at least, I have found Raymond's speed and puck ...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
Mason Raymond better have a hell of a good agent if he is going to convince Gillis that he is worth substantially more than Chris Higgins. IMO, Higgins and Raymond should be financially comparable. Raymond is better offensively, but Higgins is a better two-way player and plays with (way) more grit ...
