Re: Home Construction Discussion
Thought I would post an update on the basement reno. This looking into the bathroom with shower base, toilet and plumbing we have one coat of paint up before all the millwork and flooring is in just for efficiency. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8435/7844394654_35e7c77c1c.jpg This is looking at close...

Re: CC Random thread
It's so true it hurts. I can remember the celebration that happened in 2001 the night the NDP went down. BC entered a period of huge growth despite all the people on a free ride all over the province. At some point people are going to realize that it sucks to pay taxes when you don't earn any money ...

Re: Home Construction Discussion
It is a teething pain of many a good small business and one that kills some. They build a good reputation and clientele based upon their solid work. Business improves and they take on more than they can chew. Hire new folks and can not adequately supervise them. Quality suffers, reputation falls of...

I have this show: http://www.rockshowvideos.com/jamaicaclash.html if anyone is interested and it is from way better masters than what circulates today in pseudo commercial form. It's crystal clear and had proper mastering by some one who knows what they are doing.

Re: Home Construction Discussion
Mëds that some serious work. Since you seem to be planning to move are you going all out on renos or simply, fixing to sell? We made the decision we want the basement to look like it's a new home and we'll go forward with that approach. In the end we decided that renovating and fixing the 'devil you...

Yeah, it's the neighborhood equivalent of Dunbar/Pount Grey or Kerrisdale. No views or hills though. Lots of character houses and close to the big monster mansions.BladesofSteel wrote:^^^It looks like South Kits/Dunbar area.
I grew up in Dunbar so it feels a lot like home.

It's moving long pretty quick. Sure it doesn't seem like it too you though. You know it's not too bad. Only been a month and it's summer. We're out at lake of the woods this weekend and then the acids is moving up to our cottage for 3 weeks with kids. I'll commute only 35 mins to one of my offices....

Re: Home Construction Discussion
Nice. So what's the R-value of spray foam for 2x4 walls? R24 IIRC. I am having more blow in added to my attic as I'm going to electric boiler heat and due to panel size (even with 200 amp) I need to be sure I won't get cold. You dont have room for a heat pump/air handler on your panel? 60A/20A brea...

Re: Home Construction Discussion
As you can see all spray foamed and so silent and dry in what is normally a musty basement. It was 3k for the job and I wouldn't change a thing. So here are a few updates: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8017/7552085458_42e7216365.jpg Looking into the utility room. Furnace guys came today to do some m...

Iirc Roxul is great for noise dampening.
Fire is of so little concern to me, my house is 82 years old, it'll go up like a dry piece of tinder.

Re: Home Construction Discussion
RD I am doing basement walls and not wall cavities or attic, so we obviously have different issues going on.
Problem with spray foam is that there is no going back after. You are locked in and can't run bugger all in you walls after.

Re: Home Construction Discussion
RD- it's different in my world but if you are digging down- seal the exterior and then spray foam the interior. once this directional boring is done my walls will be spray foamed. I was in another older house in my neighborhood last night and my buddy had his basement spray foamed and it was so dry ...
