Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Perry 8 years 66 mil Loyalty Bye bye Bobby? It is to wonder. You can bet they'll be dealing Jonas Hiller, which isn't exactly great news to any other team hoping to acquire a goalie.. :look: As for other players on the club, I would guess they try to hold onto Ryan at the expense of other depth. Te...

Only if that concussion was bad enough that he forgets he has two years at $2.75m left on his deal..

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

We just don't have the cap space. There's already a crunch coming next year, no sense bringing in a guy who might get bumped in the corner and spend the next couple months afterwards sitting in a darkened room ..

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

According to Bruce Garrioch (yeah I know), the Panthers are ready to start their nearly annual fire sale. This year's untouchables include Gudbranson, Huberdeau and... drumroll please... Drew Shore. :scowl: Meanwhile, another dave babych returns target on the Panthers, Shawn Matthias, is "sick of lo...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Actually I'm guessing the league is happy to see $66m over eight years, rather than $66m over eight and then another $8m over four more years to drive the cap hit down so the team can hand out another $4m contract or two in t he meantime. Well, that wouldn't happen with the Ducks but you get my poin...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

The bigger thing is if Florida was/is a shopper for Luongo, does this turn of events make them more or less of a buyer? At this point, you may as well mail in the season if you're Dale Tallon. Why trade for Luongo now? Even if Luongo's available at the draft, would Tallon be willing to part with hi...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Three pretty different situations. Cody and his dad wanted ice time he'd not yet earned. Cory's agent gave a pretty lukewarm response (we wish he'd had more starts, the team is in a difficult spot) when called by a reporter. Keith's agent is contacting the team over a protracted disagreement spannin...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

It'd be the 2013 draft I think.. I just realized that with the structure of that deal he'll be heading into restricted free agency with a $6.5m qualifying offer required to keep him from going unrestricted. I think my favourite potential outcome here is Colorado declining to match, then O'Reilly wal...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

For the Flames, I actually kind of like this move. Desperate times..

He's likely to be $1.5m better than Matt Stajan, they badly need help down the middle, they probably weren't going to turn the 1st or the 3rd into a player of ROR's calibre any time soon.

I'm not saying it's pertinent to this situation, but since there are no more recall waivers it is much more feasible to use your farm team for depth even if your first call up might require waivers.

That being said, you still have to get them down there.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Montreal gets an expiring contract. Dallas gets a top "six" forward due only $4m each of the next to seasons after this one.
