GDT: Canucks @ Islanders - 4pm - Snet
Tonight is the first of a 5 game road trip.
The team is hot, there's not much to talk about (or bitch about) and for us long time fans, it's getting quite eerie.
The Islanders are 7-3 in their last 10.
I'd like see a royal smackdown since I'm still bitter about '82.
GO CANUCKS GO!

Hate watching games in the Isles barn. What a dank place, totally muted atmosphere... and that's when there's people actually there. Alas two points are two points.

The Islanders are hot. Why do these crappy teams get hot when they're pretty much already out of the playoffs ? It is time for TO to get hot too I guess.
Detroit lost to Colorabi last night (not that I'm scoreboard watching even though I am) so we are up by 1 point with two games in hand. Detroit doesn't play until friday so if we clobber these snowed in New Yorkers (Rangers on thursday) we will be up by 5 on Detroit. Coincidentally, these are the two teams we lost to in our only cup appearances so a business like drubbing is warranted.

This is Poulin's 3rd pro game - straight outta the "Q" - we should be lighting him up!

2pts is 2pts.
Missed most of the game because I was watching my kid play some B-Ball. Got the highlights and I must say that the Islanders just need some real guidance and veteran leadership. They aren't too bad of a team, just young.
A rare win the shootout tonight, thanks to Kesler and Luongo reading the right moves.

Not bad for a team that is 2-3 in OT and 2-3 in the shootout. And that is a real reflection of how good this team is. We're first overall in the NHL with a really bad OT and shootout record. That could be good news when it comes to the playoffs if we don't let all this success go to our heads. ("We" and "our" being the players, of course).LotusBlossom wrote: A rare win the shootout tonight, thanks to Kesler and Luongo reading the right moves.

Isles looked good specially in 2nd period. Canucks played a " union " game.. just enough to get by.. lucky to win it in the shootout.. Noticed the forwards in SO were the 2nd line? No Swedes

The Islanders actually played very well last night. That Poulin kid was pretty much outstanding, we had over 50 shots on net.
Agree with LB, 2 points is 2 points. Especially playing vs. the Eastern conference, there really isn't any playoff implications. We need to gobble up as many points vs the East as possible.
Good start to the road trip.

Ooops forgot to credit Tanner Glass with a winning fight.. unfortunately it seemed to wake up the Isles more than the Canucks... but job well done ! and we are still #1 ..
