GDT: R1G1 - Canucks host Kings - 7pm - CBC, VS

Post by Cornuck »

Finally...

IT'S ON!

Tonight should give us a glimpse of what to expect from the Canucks for the 2nd season. With our less than stellar road record, we need to take these 2 at home.

You know the rest...

GO CANUCKS GO!

It must be playoffs if you're pulling out Frederick the Great Cornuck.

Anyway, it should be fun to see the pace quicken after a fairly staid last couple weeks.

Kings will hard pressed to win this one, unless the D injuries are worse than we know.

According to Dan Murphy's twitter http://twitter.com/sportsnetmurph

Nuck Lines:/Daniel Henrik Burrows/Demitra Kesler Samuelsson/Raymond Wellwood Hansen/Pettinger Rypien Bernier

Nuck D Pairings:/Edler Salo/OBrien Ehrhoff/Alberts Bieksa/

Really don't want to see Alberts there. I'd rather have Baumgartner. The fourth line doesn't look good but hopefully they don't get enough ice time to make any difference. A healthy Johnson would help (but then how can he stay healthy given the way he blocks shots...)

Honestly

Sedin/Sedin/Burrows
Grabner/Kesler/Raymond
Samuellson/Wellwood/Demitra
Bernier/Rypien/Hansen

Looks much better to me, anyway.

As for Alberts, bad plan, unless SOB can't go. He IS definitely a better player than any of the fill ins we've been resorting to (including Rome).

not crazy about Rypien centering 4th line . or Alberts / Bieksa as 3rd d pair . would be great to have Johnson and Willie healthy.. but we got to go with what we got.. Alberts looked a bit better last game and hopefully will up it a notch for the playoffs.. Rypien is a fun player to watch and a fighter but not the guy I want taking faceoffs in the defensive zone.. Other than that its a pretty solid team with great offence . Main thing not said is our Captain/goaltender has to play a lot better than he has in the regular season... average goaltending wont bring home a Stanley Cup.. Lets pray for a return to form for Luongo.. with the depleted defence the Canucks need top goaltending ....

I think Alberts is taking Rome's place. I think I prefer Rome slightly. O'Brien is already in the lineup.

Quite sloppy on my part - learn how to read, self - Rome or Alberts? Probably, but neither is worth much.

Kings fans haven't heard of the word karma have they.

Unless the 4th line ices the puck, I doubt Ripper will be taking many defensive zone draws. If AV has a choice, it'll be either 2nd or 3rd line out when there's a D-zone draw.

You guys talk about AA as if he's a plague, I like him much more then SOB. And when you have Smyth and Brown charging at Luongo, AA is our best defensemen to clear the crease, other then Willie, but his head isn't screwed on right atm.

Grabner hasn't played in NHL playoffs b4, and it probably is a good decision to sit him first, the first step is very important guys.

Home Team that wins game 1, has a huge historical winning % in the whole series.

Get your eyes checked, my friend.

Eh, both gradual induction and baptism by fire have worked in the past. Who knows what the right choice is.

Almost there!

Team 1040 said that that we have met the Kings in the playoffs the 2nd most times (after Calgary). Now that's some ancient history!

Just placed my wager on Vancouvers own Calvin Ayres' illegal offshore bookie- BoDog. Kings +170/Nucks -200.

I just want a convincing win to send Heidi, Spencer, Lauren, and all the other King Shits back to their own board.

There's something about that crowd full of towel waivers that gives even me a smidgen of hope.
