GDT Detroit @ Vancouver - 7pm SNET

Post by nucklehead_88 »

Todd Bertuzzi, and the rest of the Red Wings aren't off to a typical start but are always dangerous, and always make for a good game. Mikael Samuelsson plays his old team. Vancouver has won three straight, Detroit has lost three straight

Rick Rypien is GTD

Detroit: GP:9 W:3 L:4 OTL:2

Canucks: GP:11 W:6 L:5 OTL:0

Think it will be a tough one to win. Bert and the Wings are not to be taken lightly. Luongo maybe the difference maker if he gets decent defensive play in front of him. Osgood is not doing well. Hopefully the Sedin line can do a little damage because we aren't going to beat Detroit with 1 scoring line. I am looking forward to this one and thinking its time for Shirikov to get his first NHL goal.. Burrows is due too.. Hard to make a prediction on this one but if the Canucks come out fired up they can win it even with 5 regulars out injured....

Van 3... Shirikov, Burrows, Grabner... Detroit 2.. Datsyuk, Zetterberg..

I suspect the offensive well is going to be pretty empty tonight and Luo will either be perfect or we won't get any points, but that's just me. Hope my intuition is wrong.

I'll say 3-1 Wings.

Thank God we didn't start off with winning 6 in a row. The idiots at the province would have been planning the parade route already.

The young ref working with McCreary seemed afraid to make a call. He was right on the goal line and never raised his arm on a play that McCreary called FROM CENTER ICE(!). Mitchell's penalty was nobody's fault but his own, though. Bad time for a mistake like that.

Lou say got to make some big saves.. 5 goals let in is not good enough for a goalie making that kinda money

Gimme a break. Luongo made some fantastic saves in this one. It's not on him. 2 PP goals against, 42 shots v 26 shots. Gee, I wonder who kept us in the game? Are you going to blame Luongo every time we lose?

If you would have told me the Canucks would score 4 goals when a quarter of their starting lineup is out with injury, against a Detroit team that is having a helluva time winning games (ie HUNGRY), and come out on the wrong end of a 5-4 decision I would probably take it with a "that'll happen". That was a good game, and the Canucks played well. Detroit NEEDED that game more than we did, and that's no fault to our boys, that's just the way it is.

Keep in mind folks, this team is facing one of the leagues worst injury bites, when you look at who is missing. For this team to be above .500 (5-3 now) without their top goal scorer, top PP QB and other starting players is doing alright in my books. Let's wait until these folks are healthy before we judge the potential of this team. Certainly, lets not hang the goalie for a loss when we give up 40+ shots against.
