GDT: GAME 3 - Canucks @ St. Louis - 7pm - CBC, VS

Post by Cornuck »

We're up two games and looking good. Today we'll see how much the Blues want it - and in their rink.

Stat of the day: The last time the Canucks got a playoff shutout was in '94.

I'm very excited about this game...

I think they Blues will take it to the Canucks but I think the Canucks will find a way to counter their attack.

They are looking good as a unit.

Closer game, but 3-2, Canucks. Pavol Demitra is due for a GWG

I hope the team just keeps playing the way they have so far. Get into the habit of playing hard each and every game and don't let up.

Sundin is out for the game with a 'lower body injury'.

Hansen is in.

Ya right.. the injury is age and the effects are slowness. Given a day off...

Lots of people think his hip is giving him trouble, but I think Robert has a point, a lot of that is age catching up with a big body.

Hopefully Hansen gives that line a little more speed. I wasn't overly impressed with Sundin, despite his faceoff prowess, he's just too slow and mitigates a lot of Demitra and Kesler's speed. I guess if he's out for more than a couple games we'll see if he's the catalyst on that line, or if Kesler is a real-deal 2nd line anchor.

I would love to have the Blues underestimate that line because Sundin is out.

Refs are having a neat one this game...

4 Blues PP's, 0 Canucks. Can't believe the Tkachuk hit on Bieksa wasn't penalized. I'd say we're definately due for one after that string of hilarious calls.

Canucks need to start running all over Mason. Their D is porous and brutal, and we need to send guys like Rypien, Hordichuk, Johnson and Bernier right at their goalie every time we get a puck at him (if we can get off the PK in this game). If we have to take a few penalties to send the message that their goalie gets punished if ours does (and worse), that's a penalty worth taking especially when the refs are calling anything.

And LOL to Kelly Hrudey thinking Bieksa is afraid of Tkachuk. Yeah friggin right Kelly, that guy has a St. Louis dick in his mouth.

As expected, the Blues are running the crease. We need to do the same - but first we need to just set up in their end!

Once again the reffing is unpredictable. I'm giving up trying to call what will be a penalty or not...

Edit: The 2nd is starting out as a reverse of the 1st.

I wonder how different that tastes from a Calgary dick.

Seriously, Hrudey's little bias against the Canucks is starting to get really annoying.

Against Detroit we're probably down 3-0 after the first... thankfully we get some time to improve our discipline, or at least our telepathic powers to figure out what kind of game these yo-yo refs are going to call.

Ryan Johnson was just interviewed by Scott Oak, classy comments re: Pyatt were awesome. This is the kind of player that is going to get us deep, these gritty, third and fourth line guys that can chew minutes without hurting the team and create some havoc in the other end.

I think the stars of tonight's game have to be Johnson, Wellwood and Bernier. I'll admit I even thought Raymond picked his game up significantly.

I'll take the three nothing series lead, but St. Louis are unlucky to be in the position they are in. Assuming we make it to the second round it's not going to be anywhere near as easy. We have to improve our discipline and when the Blues came out hitting we had no real response.

Whatever, first 3-0 series lead since 1982!

let me first start with... ehem...
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

amazing penalty kills, i love playoff time makes me a fan of every player on the Ice. RJ has been sick all series long, just about everybody has been playing terrific. Hope that Sundin gets back. I know he isn't crazy productive point wise, but he is just the presence and the fire. Hopefully he is back in game 4.
Raymond has been incredible. He easily has one of the best shots on the team. He is really showing alot of people what he is made of. His defensive play has been superb as well, that block was great. Love his compete level.
That whole third line has been dynamite, Welly has been playing very well, tough break on that McDonald goal. Looked as if after Perron spun off of Salo he thought he might have to stop him driving to the net. Looked like he figured thats what was happening by the time the puck got to Andy and he realised it was way to late. Watching the replay iso cam he was really looking in good shape defensively. Then Bernier has just been a force along the boards and hitting everything he can. That was a tough hit he took at the end of the game from behind.

Get your brooms ready boys and girls, this could be done in 4!!!!!!!!!
