GDT: Hawks at the Garage - 12/20 - 7pm CBC

Post by Cornuck »

Tonight should be a good game. After the win and emotion of the Edmonton games, the Canucks will have to get prepped against a team we don't see a lot of. The team should also be pumped knowing that the Christmas Saviour is arriving soon.

The Hawks are on a western roll beating Edmonton 9-2 and Calgary in OT. They're a talented team with a slightly better record that is 7-2-1 in their last 10.

On a side note, I'm excited about this game as I'm heading to Vegas to catch the game NHL Network :D

Should be a good game...I'm a little torn because I have a lot of Hawks in my money pool...but it's our boys. LOL

Let's just hope that the GOOD Curtis Sanford shows up for this game.

Does anyone know who is starting for the Hawks? Huet or Khabi?

I think a couple things may play out here. The Canucks will come out flying, buoyed by the fact that their GM has made an aggressive move to make them better, or they will have a let down after all the excitement of the week.

Willie Mitchell commented that the signing of Sundin has instilled a real confidence in the dressing room. I hope it's not overconfidence. I don't think it will be tonight, because Sundin isn't here, but I hope the team rewards the GM for his move by showing him and Sundin that the work ethic will be even stronger now.

Tough opponent tonight, but with Chicago coming off a game last night and the Canucks coming off a two day break, hopefully the team jumps on the Hawks and gets decent goaltending.

Should be a good game. I've enjoyed watching the Hawks these last couple of years and I'm a huge Kane fan. Somehow I don't see us winning tonight, but I think we'll get a point. I say 3-2 Hawks in the SO. Daniel and Burrows for us, Kane and Campbell for them. Versteeg will get the SO winner.

I'm really looking forward to this tilt.

4-2 game again, Mitchell with a rare goal, D. Sedin (en), Burrows (sh), Wellwood (pp).

Chicago is looking good this year... and with Lou and Salo out its going to be a huge test for the Canucks.. I expect a tough game tonight.. no bets on the winner ( in other words.. figure Chicago's going to take it but I won't bet against the Nucks ;) ) . be happy if we get a point..

Frankly I think we outplayed them by a fair margin, mixture of not finishing a little bit of questionable reffing (more the finishing) cost us. Oh well the Hawks aren't going to win their division and since they swept Western Canada it's not such a big deal.

Ugh... I hate those losses that don't look so bad when you watch them, they just seem to trigger a 5 game losing streak with this team. Luongo and Sundin couldn't get here soon enough.

I thought the Hawks looked extremely poised for such a young team. They are fun to watch on the transition. Good times in Hawkland.

Good to see that we could mostly keep up with a young fast team.

Horrible officiating - both sides.

No chance for Sandman on that backhand - a beauty. Maybe on the 2nd goal...

A tough loss, but think we played well enough to win (if we could shoot better).

I only got to see the 3rd period, but did Byfuglien not knee Hansen at the hawks blueline with 2 minutes to go?

CBS never showed a replay and no one ever discussed it.

The last 2 minutes would have potentially been 6 on 4. You could assume at least a point was lost on a head scratching non-call.

Exactly, especially Raymond had no luck when aiming just the corner of the crossbar, damn.

Chicago was maybe the fastest team and most aggressive team so far we played against. At least of these games i've seen.

Tonight and tommorrow will be another 2 tough tests, Ducks and Sharks in San Jose. I hope for the best but it can be easily nothing....grind it out boys.
