After a loss to end the run we were on, it's back the Calgary to avenge the loss. Word on the street is that Schneider's starting. It will be great to see how he does while knowing that he is getting a good look from Owners down to the humblest fan.
Let's hope our power play does better than the 1-18 it's been so far against the Flames this year. At the very least, we have to make up the 2 points from Thursday's game. It's the beginning of a long road trip, so let's start it off right!

Hope your right about Schneider playing.. be interesting to see if he can do the job. I think the two teams are fairly evenly matched right now .. with Luongo out but tonight Kesler and company will shut down Iginla line and score a goal PP will get another ( dammm are they due? ) ... and Schneider will let 1 in ...

Not optimistic again tonight, but I say Schneider is decent in his first start.
3-2 Calgary in OT. Demitra and Ohlund for us, Langkow, Lombardi and Phaneuf for the Lames.

Schneider didn't look spectacular but was darn effective. He made it look so easy I wonder how hard those shots were, save Camalleri's last shot near the end of the period. Cool as a cucumber that one...
Mason Raymond looks like he's just making rookie mistakes out there. He skates miles around the Calgary end and makes a dumb/errant pass that nobody in white gets to. Either he's not playing confident or he is still very much learning the ropes. He's got the tools and makes 8 out of the 10 moves needed to make the play. It's just the 9th and 10th move he seems to be flubbing often. That said, all he has to do is learn and work through it. I suspect he won't be doing those same things by February.
The power play has zero confidence right now. towards midway through the 2nd PP, they were dumping it in. Please. All Calgary is doing is putting some quick pressure on them and they're throwing the puck around like a hand grenade. The D is trying to hammer it and they just have to keep doing it. Besides that, they are not hustling enough in their own zone. The fact that Calgary's PK was playing keep-away in Vancouver's zone was embarassing.
That said, it's 0-0 and the boys haven't made any major mind-farts. They just have to up the tempo and get more pucks to the slot and they'll crack the Flamers.

1-0 Flames.
This is the most boring game ever. Even worse than that Boston debacle earlier in the year. Where is the emotion tonight?

Well, that was a huge letdown. Zero emotion, no effort and a 3-1 loss. We were never in this game. At least Schneider was alright (except for the 2-0 goal).
Terrible way to start a road trip.

Agreed, the game was a non-event. Schneider looked okay. But goaltending wasn't a factor either way. What IS a factor is that Calgary outplayed the Canucks for the second night in a row.

Problem is our young players played young. Raymond at least shot on net noticeably, but still made young player mistakes. Schneider played a good game, but that 2nd goal he totally flubbed and Salo gave him no support on the 3rd. That said, he's worth another look at least.
I agree, not much emotion not much hustle. It's almost like they were trying to keep something in th tank for the rest of the road trip. They didn't wake up until it was 2-0 and then tried to force things too much. Love Willie, but that intercepted pass which led to the 3rd goal was bogus. Any other point in the game, he makes the better play.
Simpson on HNIC made a good point in that the Kesler line in that they haven't had a checking assignment per se, and it kind of takes some pop out of their game.
It absolutely blows losing to those cow f*cking, inbred hillbilly pedophiles but you can't win them all. It makes Thursday's loss all the worse. I was hoping that when it was 3-1 they would send Hordi out to maybe take someone on and smash an orbital bone or a hand on someone, but who does AV send out? The Twins.... at least Pysie had the guts to take on Regehr. Too bad Regehr chickened out with the zebras around...
On to Columbus.... yay....
