PREDICTIONS: LAST 2 GAMES....

Post by newostar »

Alright everyone, time to put down your predictions for how the season will unfold.

Put down what will happen in the next 2 games and where the Nucks will finish.

Here is what I think:

vs Edm: Canucks look sloppy to start but Edmonton is crushed after being officially knocked out. I could see the Nucks winning 3-1.

Meanwhile: Nashville beats St. Louis as the Blues aim to increase their draft pick and tank the season. Canucks still out by 1 point. Calgary loses to Minnesota 3-2.
Nashville then beats Chicago in Overtime on Friday.

vs. Cal: Nucks need to win in regulation to knock off Calgary. They have a strong effort but the game goes to overtime and the nucks lose 4-3. Naslund comes on the mic and says "Sorry guys, we choked again, but don't worry, I won't be back next year, I quit".

What's your thoughts?

Canucks fold like a cheap dack of cards like usual under the presure. Remember the last 2 games against the Blues a couple of years ago? Yeah jjust like that. Season over, Linden retires, Naslund gets traded for a used set of goalie gear and the Sedins get the C and the A to set us up for failure for the next 5 years.

I know Nazy's a free agent of course but my point was he's finished with the Canucks unless he signs for a lot less. Frankly I would just like to see him and his losing ways go. Around my office we all feel the same way about the Swedes in general, save Peter Foreskinberg who we all hate with a passion but respect his grit and skill. The NHL is no place for players who can't take a hit and don't dish them out. What we lack most is team tougheness IMO.

I hope Minnesota beats the Flames in regulation time tomorrow.

Im in 100% agreement on Naslund with you Geo dont get me wrong. I also dont believe the swede argument about toughness. There are plenty in the league that have grit, toughness and determination we just have the wrong ones aside from Ohlund and hopefully Edler.

Wow I hope that's the case...I'm coming over from Victoria to see that game. It will suck if the game doesn't mean anything with the cost of hotel, ferry and ticket....booo!

My predictions

A large number of the players have their bags packed and airline tickets bought before the Calgary game.

Another possibility, Calgary loses in Minnesota, we lose vs. Edmonton in OT/SO.

Nasville loses against St. Louis in OT/SO, Chicago wins their last 2 in regulation (Nashville, Detroit) and our showdown is a OT/SO loss against Calgary....

The final standings would be:

7. Calgary 94 pts.
8. Chicago 90 pts. (41 wins)
9. Nashville 90 pts. (40 wins)
10. Vancouver 90 pts. (39 wins)

I don't believe in this but hey it's possible.

For this to happen, NashV has to win both its games. But I don't know why, but I just don't think it'll be the case.

Tonight, big bounce back (please play rypien instead of ritchie to punch the enemy). Linden and Nazzy lead, Luongo snaps back to playing like he can, and we take it 4-2. The Oil are going to be playing loose, since they're out, and would love to spoil. But the nucks just play more disciplined against the oil, I don't know why.

Minny's all but clinched first in the NW, and the flames are all but in. Minny takes it 4-2.

Nashville vs St L? Given Legace's "hip flexor" (yeah, right), I don't have much hope. But, maybe this back up, Toivonen, plays like it's a St. Louis back-up vs the Canucks, and Brad Boyes goes insane and scores 4 goals (okay, I'm starting to fantasize here). Realistically, 3-2 NashV

But if they lose, tomorrow, Chi-town is going to be pumped, and hoping that Van loses Saturday, they go to town on NashV. In fact, I'm going out on a limb and picking them even if NashV wins tonight. 3-1.

That sets up one helluva game for Saturday. Win and your in. The flames will already be in if NashV loses one game, but they probably would love to spoil the Nucks chances. I think we discover some new life. 5-2 nucks.

Of course, I'm not willing to bet on these predictions...but there you go.

I hate to admit it, but I COMPLETELY agree with this quote. :(.

In fact - there's a good chance that I might die of shock if the Canucks, at the end of tonight, are in a serious position to make the playoffs.

Lord only knows what I'd feel if the Canucks beat Calgary next game and made the playoffs!

p.s. For whatever it's worth - I did something interesting on EA Sports 08'. I traded the twins to Boston for Zdeno Chara (and something else....can't remember). I also offered a similar package (to what we were offering Richards.....but not quite as much) for Wade Redden (Salo involved in package as well).

New look defense lines:

Chara-Redden
Mitchell-Ohlund
Bourdon-Bieksa

Luongo, Sanford:

I'm not done yet, but I'm looking to add some 'power play' and 'PK' specialists upfront (i.e. a "Peter Bondra type, Josh Green type, Bobby Holik, etc.).

Basically - my team would still be built around Anaheim, but we literally would have a HUGE fort around Luongo (with Chara/Redden.....it would perhaps be somewhat similar to Nidermayer/Pronger).

The Canucks also have a great special teams in-tact. With a juggernaught defense and Luongo in net, combined with a killer special teams, the Canucks would have a great chance at winning.

Deep defense... Edler as the 7th D-man? Not bad.... so who's going to score goals exactly? ;)
