With no fanfare, a spotlit black curtain was lifted to the rafters, exposing the Northwest Division championship banner. Marc "Half O Canada" Donnelly belted the anthems. The lights came on and the puck was dropped on the Vancouver Canucks' 37th National Hockey League season. Regular season ends in six months on April 5.

With a top tier goalie like Luongo and decent talent, they are definitely a contender. Hopefully we won't have an injury problem to test our depth.

Starting lineup

Post by B. Mackin »

RW Ryan Shannon C Ryan Kesler LW Markus Naslund
D Mattias Ohlund and Aaron Miller
G Roberto Luongo
(scratches: Sami Salo, Jeff Cowan, Brad Isbister)

What to call the Shannon, Kesler, Naslund line?
Stars and Stripes and a Swede?
Two Ryans and a Mark?
