leaves logo the focus of gay film
Sportsnet.ca -- For a team which already exists under a strong media microscope, the decision to lend the famed leaves logo to an upcoming gay film is sure to open the floodgates.
The team and the NHL have given permission for their logos to be used in a movie called "Breakfast With Scot."
The film, which is scheduled for theatres next December, is described as "a thoughtful comedy," about a gay ex-Leaf and his partner, the team's lawyer, whose lifestyle and relationship are put to the test when they become the guardians of "a budding queen of an 11-year-old boy."
The movie stars Canadian actor Tom Cavanagh, known for his work in "Ed" and "Scrubs". The film co-stars Ben Shenkman of "Just Like Heaven" along with Noah Bernett of "Gothica."
leaves GM John Ferguson told the Toronto Star on Friday the decision has no ulterior motive, and is not meant to make a statement.
"On our end, we're certainly not trying to make a statement," said Ferguson. "We agreed to host them and we're comfortable with it."
Introducing a gay element to the revered sport of hockey will certainly be unprecedented, an idea not lost on one-half of Coach's Corner, Don Cherry.
"I know Gary Bettman wanted a kinder, gentler league, but this is too much," Cherry joked to Toronto Star columnist Chris Zelkovich.
This is a new way to market the leaves!! Very liberal thinking. I can hardly wait to hear Don Cherry on this one! Will he bite his tongue or will his red neck side get the better of him??

Perfect illustration of an organization who really knows their customers and is able to leverage that knowledge into new product offerings that will appeal to their core market. I've always thought that Leaf fans were a bunch of fags but I never suspected that the leaves would actually recognize that. Whatever your personal beliefs on the matter, that is just good business. They've oppend the door to a whole new area of merchandising and licensing revenue. Just think of the money they will be able to make on broken sticks alone now that they can sell them as genuine Darcy Tucker Anal stimulators.

It is 'rednecked' to be against homosexuality because in our society we no longer discriminate based on sexual preference. The same way that we don't look down upon people based on their colour.HappyCanuck wrote:Why is it rednecked to be against homosexuality? Why is it considered liberal to be for it?

I knew posting this would bring debate with my pathetic wording....
Don Cherry is a redneck Canadian..enough said...
When I said liberal I meant forward, open thinkng...sorry for the political party
Am I against or for homosexuality...I don't remember this being an issue in my post
Vancouver would be a great place for the Canucks to promote a movie such as this. My post is a positive display of a very gutsy move by an important team in the culture of our nation! Its CANADAS TEAM !!!
Breakfast With Scot is part of the fabic of every Canadian.....thank goodness they picked the most important alternative lifesyle team in the league...centre of the universe...not that there is anything wrong with......
Disgusting??? Let me know after Saturday....

Turned on the tube late in the evening and saw the trailer for Good Cop, Bon Cop, thought it was going to be an SNL type spoof. Kept waiting for the punch line and then I realized that would come when those who bought a ticket actually saw the movie.MarkMM wrote:Well, "Good Cop, Bon Cop" had potential...

Mike Sillinger has always struck me as a bit of a poofter (not that there's anything wrong with that!).
I'm not sure what it is. Being in his mid/late 30's, unmarried, travelling from city to city and constantly playing on different teams.....I just get the feeling that there's "more than meets the eye" as far as Sillinger goes (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

" A budding Queen of an eleven year old boy" ? what the fuck is that?
You mean to tell me that the Toronto Maple leaves see nothing wrong with lending their name to a movie that has two queers looking after "A budding queen of an 11 year old boy"
How completly fucked in the head do you have to be not to see whats wrong with that?
Are they so completly shit scared of saying no to the fucking queers that they will allow the Tronto Maple Leaf logo be dragged through what is basically kiddie porn!
Good God this whole country is going to shit!
This is called pedophilia people! Take your heads out of your asses and see it for what it is.

He lives down the street from me in the summer. He is married has kids and I'd be 99% sure he isn't a fag, although you never know for sure.Mike Sillinger has always struck me as a bit of a poofter (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

Interesting assumptions that are so far removed from reality that I had to laugh when I read your answer. Have you ever heard of a group called glisten? I suggest you read about them and then give us your opinion.Harold wrote:It is 'rednecked' to be against homosexuality because in our society we no longer discriminate based on sexual preference.
