From Dahlen's comments today he sure is playing dumb. Said he never asked for a trade. Never demanded a call up. Doesn't think he's NHL ready but wants a spot in the AHL where he can develop his game. Praised his Utica teammates but remained mum on coaching and management. Acted surprised at the trade. Said he never got a real chance to get the ice time in the AHL and that's all he wants, is an AHL team that appreciates him. Looking forward to a fresh start. Didn't know there were problems, like I said, he was surprised.

Funny, his agent tweeted that he had asked for a trade. Perhaps Dahlen needs talk to his agent.

So, he likes the AHL.
He knows he is not ready for the NHL.
He felt under appreciated in Utica.
Never complained.
Wants a fair chance to dominate in the AHL.
Is prepared to do his time as long as its with an organization that appreciates him.

Smells like Dahlen got whiny with his agent. Agent decided to run with it and play hardball with Benning and co. Maybe said something like "if you dont want to give him a crack at the NHL now, then maybe you should trade him". Benning decided to move on and called the bluff.

Maybe Vancouver loses out on a player that gets his act together and makes it as a regular in the NHL. Then again, maybe he doesnt, and maybe it sends a strong message to those that remain and others put in extra effort to ensure they become impact NHLers. And maybe Linus turns out to be the BP in the trade. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over time. This could easily work out just like the last prospect Vancouver shipped off to the sharks. Nucks fans were rather Po'd to get just a 7th (Tate) for their future generational talent, McNally (who btw is putting together decent stats in the German DEL-2 ).

I know a couple NHL people quite well and there are 2 dmen that they say the consensus amongst many NHL scouts that watch WHL say the most impressive dmen with best NHL potential and play the game hard from the WHL are Alex Alexeyev(CAPS) and Jett Woo(Canucks)..

One thing that the scouts love about Woo is his agressive play and hitting ability. You dont see that much from players nowadays and the scouts drool over it

This prospect is not getting enough recognition.

Top 6 in WHL Dman scoring alongside names like Ty Smith, Josh Brooks, Calen Addison even though Woo is regarded to be a lockdown defence 1st Dman.

Hes having a massive D+1 year especially for a 2nd rnder.

Lots of recent reports has him stylistically compared to a Vlasic style with Phaneuf edge.

Woo getting compared to a Hamonic/Phaneuf/Vlasic/Bieksa(in his prime) type, plays with an aggressive edge, but plays a safe game and now is getting a lot of points, he should get over 60 pts this season.

Really goes against tradition but if Woo continues the way he is, AND has a great camp, he could make our squad next season.
It is doubtful Juolevi will be ready for NHL duties by camp. Can't start skating hard till late summer.

Lockwood would be better suited for the AHL playoffs in Utica imo.

If they (hughes/lockwood/madden) were to sign ELC’s dated to start in 2019-20 and then sign ATO with Utica.

Hughes will start in the NHL tho obviously.

Lockwood was not papered to the AHL, couldn't be as he isn't under contract. He wouldn't be eligible fo rAHL playoffs, at leastI don't think.

Lockwood can play in the AHL right out of college on a amateur tryout ATO.

ATO- this is an Amateur Try-Out agreement, and is for players who are coming in from college and have never played at the professional level.

These type of contracts are common at the end of the season as many players try to break in to the pro leagues after the college or junior season is over. The ECHL, AHL and NHL all use ATOs.
