It’s called work in progress. I agree. Redundant. Like Gillis bringing in Buyout Ballard and Hamhius.Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 9:53 amI didn’t want him either. He doesn’t fit with the Canucks because we have Huggy Bear controlling our PP. He will actually help the Coilers quite a lot with their PP. It’s a better situation for him. Hopefully we can torch him on the defensive side of things.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 9:48 am Apparently the Oilers are close to signing Barrie to a one year $4 million contract. Meh, I never wanted him to begin with

Tyler Johnson clears waivers. TBL stuck with that contract 4 yrs x $5M aav, only 31 pts last season and not much points in a full Cup run.
BrisBois and Benning got a good trade relations, Cernak trade?
Vegas might big time pay Pietrangelo and then trade Schmidt.
NYI and Sabres still got a RHD to trade.

Would you guys give up a 2nd rounder for a 23 year old right shot dman 5'11, 197lbs, has over 100 blocked shots last season, scored 5 goals, 16 assists, 21pts and avg almost 22min TOI last yr up there with Edler and Hughes?
If yes, then one should offersheet Ethan Bear right now, as the Oilers with the Barrie and Smith signings have only 232K in cap space.
AAV: $2,181,546 - $4,363,095 = 1 Second Round Pick compensation.

Erik Cernak would be great. That or hopefully they're trying to work out a trade for one of those guys. Going after RFAs on defense are the best options now I think but they may have to wait until Virtanen's arbitration or settling with both him and Gaudette.Micky wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 1:32 pmErik Cernak would be great. Try and dumpster dive for a couple of decent defenders through trade or free agency. The real window was always going to open up in 2022. They have no cash for Petro. He will want at least 8 x 7 years. He’s a lot better player than OEL so you could perhaps justify paying him that, but we don’t have the young assets of picks needed to purge the rot off the roster.

Basically, we can send them to Utica for free, as long as we bring up a Ute to replace them. So, as long as we want rookies, having those 2 sucking up cap doesn't hurt. And, given the glut of potential NHLers in Utica, this might be the perfect season to cycle the Utes through the lineup and see which of the turds stickCherry Picker wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 9:47 amThey get 1,075,000 off the cap each when they are sent down, but really they wouldn’t save much because their roster spots would have to be filled with someone, and even the cheapest players make close to a million. Right now Benning has around 4m with 22 of 23 roster spots filled to get a defensemen without trading someone away.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

Canucks continue to look for a defenseman.
They are 1 of the teams that have checked in on Sami Vatanen.

I'm intrigued by the idea of Vatanen on a Covid discount contract.
Sounds like Jimmy is kicking all the tires, doing his job.David Pagnotta
@TheFourthPeriod
The Vancouver Canucks remain in the market for a top-four defenceman and are one of the teams that have expressed interest in Travis Hamonic. As they aren't the only team in that mix, they're also exploring multiple options.

Vatanen was once a decent puck mover but his numbers haven't ever matched up with his skillset for some reason.
I find the rumblings on Damon Severson more intriguing. Hes a much better righty from jersey, will hit and throe down here and there too. 4.1 cap hit for 3 more years
