Tyler Johnson clears waivers. TBL stuck with that contract 4 yrs x $5M aav, only 31 pts last season and not much points in a full Cup run.

BrisBois and Benning got a good trade relations, Cernak trade?

Vegas might big time pay Pietrangelo and then trade Schmidt.

NYI and Sabres still got a RHD to trade.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Boothy was a tremendous success though

Would you guys give up a 2nd rounder for a 23 year old right shot dman 5'11, 197lbs, has over 100 blocked shots last season, scored 5 goals, 16 assists, 21pts and avg almost 22min TOI last yr up there with Edler and Hughes?

If yes, then one should offersheet Ethan Bear right now, as the Oilers with the Barrie and Smith signings have only 232K in cap space.

AAV: $2,181,546 - $4,363,095 = 1 Second Round Pick compensation.

Sure but I'd rather have Cernak or Pulock before Bear.

Erik Cernak would be great. Lots of room to get better and is already a roughneck without a dirty +/-, ..Where's the damn offer sheet?

That or hopefully they're trying to work out a trade for one of those guys. Going after RFAs on defense are the best options now I think but they may have to wait until Virtanen's arbitration or settling with both him and Gaudette.

The real window was always going to open up in 2022. They have no cash for Petro. He will want at least 8 x 7 years. He’s a lot better player than OEL so you could perhaps justify paying him that, but we don’t have the young assets of picks needed to purge the rot off the roster.
But Doyle, Doc said those contracts should be moved easily.
Well it’s been proven that they aren’t easy to move hasn’t it?
It's easy peasy if you throw in Petey.

They get 1,075,000 off the cap each when they are sent down, but really they wouldn’t save much because their roster spots would have to be filled with someone, and even the cheapest players make close to a million. Right now Benning has around 4m with 22 of 23 roster spots filled to get a defensemen without trading someone away.
Basically, we can send them to Utica for free, as long as we bring up a Ute to replace them. So, as long as we want rookies, having those 2 sucking up cap doesn't hurt. And, given the glut of potential NHLers in Utica, this might be the perfect season to cycle the Utes through the lineup and see which of the turds stick

You know if you send them down to Utica someone could claim them off waivers.

Rick Dhaliwal@DhaliwalSports
Canucks continue to look for a defenseman.
They are 1 of the teams that have checked in on Sami Vatanen.

The Vancouver Canucks remain in the market for a top-four defenceman and are one of the teams that have expressed interest in Travis Hamonic. As they aren't the only team in that mix, they're also exploring multiple options.
Sounds like Jimmy is kicking all the tires, doing his job.

I'm intrigued by the idea of Vatanen on a Covid discount contract.

Vatanen was once a decent puck mover but his numbers haven't ever matched up with his skillset for some reason.

I find the rumblings on Damon Severson more intriguing. Hes a much better righty from jersey, will hit and throe down here and there too. 4.1 cap hit for 3 more years

His numbers are still good... and he's good defensively.

The problem is his injury history.

So yeah, great Tanev replacement? :D

Plus he comes without losing assets. Could work if hes affordable enough to allow adding a tougher middle depth level dman as well (like a hamonic for example)
