Matthews - $11.6 Million
Tavares - $11 Million
Marner - $10.8 Million
Barrie - $8 million

That’s $41.4 of Cap on 4 Players? Is that wise?
Yes 100%.

Is it better to pay 6-8 much less skiled players that?

Stop paying for supporting talent! Benning does that badly.
So your vision of "success" is perpetual failure in the first round ?

Ya no thanks dude...i think we'll pass

The cup champs missed the playoffs. Irrelevant argument.

So the Laffs will have no problems figuring out how to squeeze in 19 more players to fill out a 23 man roster in under the 42 Million left over after Barrie is signed at $8 Million? Throw in Mylander $7 Million and Anderson and Reilly at $5 Million each that leaves $23 million left for 17 players on a 23 man roster? Easy peasy?

Fuck toons, even when you have the balls to show up, your arguments are completely irrelevant.

If you meant the cup champs, the Washington Capitals, they lost in the first round. The cup champs... um, they won a cup

Your top-heavy Leaves have lost in 3 consecutive first rounds. Prior to that, they didn't make the playoffs in 10 out of 11 years. The one time that they did? They lost in the first round.

The window is wide open alright... for everyone to jump out of the burning building

Scrubbies and crinkled vets to fill out "most of the roster".

Keep counting; years since

As an aside, UMMMMM, I must admit, was one of your more insightful posts this year. 8-)

Leaked info - Marner received offer sheets from the Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild.

Both declined.

So Dubas had all the ammo to sign Marner to something reasonable.

Ken Campbell:
Legitimate question. If the Toronto Maple leaves knew Mitch Marner turned down two offer sheets, knew that he wanted to play only in Toronto, knew he didn't want to miss any time this season and knew he had virtually no leverage, why did they give him that contract?
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

One guy is on a term twice as long. If Boeser averages 35-40 goals he will likely hit 10 on his next deal
