$11M x 6??

If the contract included 2 more years it would have increased the AAV to at least $12.5M.

That's 1.5 points-per-gm McDavid money.

Or look at 1.5 points-per-gm Kucherov... $9.5M x 8.

50-goal scorer Draisaitl makes $8.5M per.

25-goal 1.15-points-per-gm Marner is overpaid by like $3M-per buddy! :wow:

All four of the Leaves top 4 forwards are overpaid substantially.

Dubas was right in saying today: "I've screwed some things up."

Is it possible the NHL will increase the cap space this year?

BING BING BING

The way it stands now, when Hyman returns from LTIR they'll have to run with 21 players to make the cap work.

This is why I've been saying all along that they should probably trade Kapanen after signing Marner.

(everyone knew they'd have to overpay points-leader Marner after overpaying Matthews)

OK then. I have no appetite for the business side of sports. I prefer to focus on the game instead of the business. However, I am aware the two are together. I just choose one.

No doubt!

Marner's camp was asking for $8M X 8 last summer... Dumbass said 'no'.

You sign Marner to that last summer and Matthews would have signed cheaper.

Should've traded Silly Willy when he was unreasonable and it was clear he was going to hold out.

I try to not let the dollars involved affect my joy for the game - but it creeps in. I'm still mad at Bobby Hull, btw.

But in a cap-based league, the money becomes a major factor (biggest) in putting a team together, so it's really unavoidable.

So am I ! Not to mention the fact that through my own stupidity and blind loyalty to the NHL, (and the team that had my rights),
I had three offers that I wouldn't consider. Then they merged  Oh I was warned but I didn't heed.
Ended up playing a year and a bit in the old IHL, then quit.

Hull at one end of the mad scale and Gretz and his friends on the other.

Who cares; Went on to be a cool photographer with airplanes and stuff. No bitterness here ;)

Barrie wants $8 million

Matthews - $11.6 Million
Tavares - $11 Million
Marner - $10.8 Million
Barrie - $8 million

That’s $41.4 of Cap on 4 Players? Is that wise?

Yes 100%.

Is it better to pay 6-8 much less skiled players that?

Stop paying for supporting talent! Benning does that badly.
