4 guys eating up over 50% of the cap.
Dumbass spending all that time "negotiating" only to get bent over again and again.
The rest of the league's GMs are rolling their eyes because not only are the Leaves fucking themselves over, it's created a terrible trend where all the RFAs are now going to get paid even more than is necessary.
...and people were saying Benning & Linden were neophytes? The Bennings have 50 years in the biz and at least Trev had business success in the real-world.
Shanny and Dumbass are completely overmatched. What the hell is genius capologist Gilman doing?
Dumb and Dumber "negotiate" salaries and then ask Gilman who they have to dump next to make it work.
Today they can make the cap work with 4 guys on LTIR, but who do they ship out when say Hyman comes back?

You'd think that collection of playoff no shows had actually won something...anything at all...to justify topping the league in payroll.
Heres top dollar boys...now get back out there and lose another first round series!
Now that Mitch The Magician Marner has signed a new deal we can only hope future RFA's GET ALL THE MONEY THEY CAN EVERY LAST PENNY hometown discounts be damned

The first domino is always the best bargain.
Marner at $11 schmill is hefty, something tells me that’s what we could be looking at for ole Petey. Is it me or does the league need to raise the cap or is parity a real thing?

The contract for Marner is fair value. But as others have already said you can’t pay four forwards 40 million with an 80 million cap. Dubas could have signed these deals earlier and saved himself some serious jack.
They won’t be able to afford either of Muzzin or Barrie next summer. Muzzin will be looking for 6.5 - 7 million easily. Barrie will be looking for 8.
“I don’t care what you and some other poster were talking about”
Leaves gave up a 1st for Muzzin and former 1st Kadri for Barrie. One year’s service left for those two in Toronto

If he rolls up to his contract signing scoring in the 90s then absolutely.
They will have to move a forward like Nylander next June/July if they want to have a defence beyond Reilly.

With this kind of contractual behavior, there will be no dynasty here.
Save the one where pricey souvenir uniforms are angrilly hurled onto the ice surface.
I'm getting a good laugh out of the headlines about this that are heralding that the Leave's contention window is now wide open indefinitely.
Unless they get some miraculous and immediate development out of a few of their young defensemen, that window is for 2019-20 and maybe 2020-21. Once they lose Barrie and Muzzin next year (like they lost Gardiner this year) they will suddenly be reeling on the back end.
Oh and they'll need to find a way to give Andersen a break as well as pray that he doesn't flame out in the post-season again.....looks like they are banking hard on Hutchinson there.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
