How many times do we have to tell you that with young top-sixers the AAV goes up with the term.

Schmatlz signed for seven years.

You have Nylander for just five more years.

Schmatlz got $5.85M-per on a seven year deal

... which equates to ~ $3.85 on a five year deal.

Also Nylander got sweeteners ($24.3M in signing bonuses) while Schmatlz got ZERO.

This means, among other things:

If a team trades for Nylander and a lockout shuts things down for a year when the CBA expires

... that team would have to pay Willy Nilly $3.5M for nothing.

Schmatlz has put up more points-per-gm and goals-per-gm with the Coyotes

... than Nylander has in his last 3 seasons with the Leaves.

Schmatlz's contract is better than Nylander's... but hey, most contracts are. :mex:

There's only 1 year difference on the contract . So please explain how it's better. You certainly can't claim Scmaltz is as good or better.

Signing bonuses mean NOTHING. It's the same amount of $. leaves can afford to do that. Arizona cannot. They lost 50 million last season.
What signing bonuses do is make the contract much easier to trade if needed(You keep denying this yet in the same breathe repeat Nylander actual $ earned this season).

So Schmaltz has a much better contract. Gotcha.
And if the leaves signed that deal you'd be outraged.

And you are wrong about the signing bonuses. All bonuses are paid by July 1st, 2019. There are no signing bonuses after that date. Nylander's actual $ is less than Scmaltz every year after. This is due to the 10.2 million you cite everyday and pretend it's his yearly cao hit.

Are you happy in the reality you have created?

First of all, contrary to popular opinion, not all NHL bonuses are paid on July 1st (but yes, most are).

Secondly, YOU are wrong, Silly Willy does receive signing bonuses after "July 1st, 2019"

https://www.capfriendly.com/players/william-nylander

Like I said, $24.3M total spread over the length of the contract... smallest bonus in any year being $3.5M.

Thirdly, Nylander's contract is listed as 6-years, $45M... Schmaltz's as 7-years $40.95M

... as well as being chock-ful with those signing bonuses.

(do the math... Will's is much worse contract than Nick's)

Fourthly, I've never misrepresented Willy Nilly's cap hit.

Now please tell me... why the fuck are we talking about Nick Schmaltz?

Is it because you're scouring NHL contracts in a useless attempt to find one worse than Wee Willy's?

EDIT: Capfriendly has updated to include Schmaltz's bonuses... grand total of just a mere $3M spread over 7 years.

Again, Ariozona is broke. That's why they can't pay bonuses.
What is the argument? Nylander will get paid during the lockout. This affects Toronto, how? It does not affect their cap.

Please explain how Nylander's deal is worse. You have not done that. He got 5.85 with 1 single 50 point season. Signing bonus are an irrelevant argument.

You've made it clear. The big difference is signing bonuses. What that matters I will never know.

Yeah his name is Patrick Marleau.

Don't even compare Nylander to Eriksson.

You would trade Loui for Willy in a second and you know it.

Loui:
77 11 16 27

Willy:
49 6 20 26

Oh and there's an 11 year age difference.

Last Season:
Loui:

50 10 13 23

Willy:
82 20 41 61

Nylander gets all those second assists because he plays 20+ minutes a game with either one of those 2 offensive prodigies.

Loui plays 3rd line wing with scrubs and still has twice the goals.

Loui > 10 million williom

Loui TOI: 14:07

Nylander TOI: 15:30

Not a big difference. Nylander has been a bottom 6 forward majority of his season.
