Those sad, sad Kings.

They should be rebuilding, but instead they think they need to go all-in.

They also don't have the cap space to re-sign Nylander and not be terrible. They should be trying to shed shitty contracts, instead they want to trade for and then overpay Nylander.

One could argue that trading for Nylander is a rebuild type of move. He could be a key top six for the next 10-12 years for them.

And of course there are some bad contracts they do need to try moving out.

Yeah Nylander would be a great boost to their stagnant aging team with locked in vets.

But I don't think the kings could offer the right dman the leaves need, as their best RIGHT side dman avail is Martinez but he's 31.

Canes and the leaves are most likeliest of trade partners as the canes are loaded on the right side, and Brett Pesce is only 23, having said that if that was the offer (Pesce for Nylander) I'd think that trade would have been done by now.

I'm guessing the Canes want to move on from Faulk, just they ain't getting the right offers (a top 6 forward with some term).

Enter the Canucks (mwahaha) *Mëds rolls eyes* saying *oh god*.

Tanev to the leaves, Kadri to Canes, Faulk to the Canucks.
Nobody gives up any youth, all teams get a player who can play now, leaves get their defensive dman, canes get a center, canucks get a QB who has a great right shot from the point who will help & give EP another option to work with.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Faulk that. To me, he always seemed like a slow-footed fattie who can't play defence.

Career -106. That's like Jack Johnson territory.

Better to save that ammo and wait for Q Hughes to arrive.

Conversely could be like the Penguins, have a couple QB's with some two-way dmen and a big defensive dman to counter not having a Drew Doughty or John Carlson type.

Canucks with Hughes and Faulk would give them a solid one-two punch offensively on D (lefty & righty)

Leaves would want more than aging vets for Nylander. We know they need D but they aren’t giving him up for Muzzin. Now maybe Tanev plus, we’ll a healthy Tanev. Leaves don’t need top six back. They need D and a goalie prospect. Or high draft pick. They can afford to let Nylander sit. Toronto is rich in offensive skill. They need D and defensive forwards. Oh and a goalie.

The price for winning Cups without having Crosby and Malkin. Chicago and LA have some bad long term contracts to deal with.

Muzzin is the same age as Yanev. He’s more durable and probably better too.

Yeah but the Kings would want Nylander if they gave LD Muzzin up.

And the leaves are good on LD.
Reilly - Hainsey
Gardiner - Zaitsev
Dermott - Ozhiganov
Marincin - Holl

Its' the right side that's bad, the same defense that got smoked in the playoffs.

The Kings left side D doesn't seem all that great either after Muzzin, with Phaneuf and Forbort.

If the leaves can keep their 1st, Nylander and Liljegren (what other teams likely want) while getting a right side dman for Reilly, I'd say that's a win for them.

Skyo, Reilly is great offensively, but poor defensively.

Most figure Gardiner leaves in the summer as a UFA (due to cap and choking reasons).

At this point Dermott is a sheltered 3rd-pairing guy with 48 NHL games experience.

Marincin is a 26-year-old AHLer (just 7 NHL games over the last 2 seasons).

Holl is a 26-year-old AHLer with a grand total of 3 NHL games under his belt.

Ozhiganov is a 26-year-old with 11 NHL games.

Zaitsev sucks and is 27 with 6 years left on his contract... most Leafers want him and is contract gone.

37-year-old Hainsey likely retires after this season.

:D

Wait... what were we talking about again?

He's easily a top 10 D overall. Terrible defensive DMen don't play harder minutes than Doughty. His overall stats are great. You are repeating stuff from 3 years ago.

Toronto isn't giving up many GA, are they? Maybe the D is better than you claim.
