Amazing what it means when you are not playing down in the first few minutes of a game.

No kidding. No deflating first minute goals. A goalie who stole one for us. Made our PK look great. Kept us within one before lightening the kids struck

If Markstrom played the last two games like Nilsson did tonight, the Canucks would possibly have 4 more points.

Nice to see our guys steal 2 points and find a way to win.

Some positives:
- Brockstar breaks his slump with a wicked blast. Maybe that extra muscle helped him there. :P

- Nice to see Nielsson hold the fort for us and playing like a World Championship gold medal goalie. Oddly enuff, he wasn't very sharp in the pre-season, but was rock solid when it starts to matter. Hopefully, Greener doesn't go ape shit on him again. Nielsson won't be able to play like this most nites, but just hope he can avoid those big long slump like last season.

- Great to see Jake stand up McDoungh like that. I remember Kornwall trying to hit Jake like that and Jake just stood him up. Not sure if Jake is just really strong physically or just strong on his skates or just being smart with his head up to know some1 is coming (maybe all 3 are factors). I luv watching Jake knock ppl around. He scores an EN and is looking more like a Raffi Torres/NHL power forward every game.

Yes Jake seems to be finding an identity. Just having Green having him out there twice while we are holding a lead and twice he gets an EN. He’s playing smarter.

Pettersson just has that extra gear, willing the puck to go in.

Motte with a good game.

Who sits, or goes to Utica when Roussel is ready, I think Leipsic. But maybe Schaller. Hell i don’t know.

D was better but still too many shifts where we were running around, too many defensive giveaways by both the D and forwards.

But heck, we beat Tampa. So I’ll take. Starting to feel like we can score.

I think the D played fairly well considering. Tampa is a very deep, good balanced team. A real contender.

Would have looked better tonight against a weaker team. But our D is what it is until something changes.

Just have to have good goaltending and stop taking so many penalties.

At least we've been competing hard and in all the games until the end. This year is all about development and the process.

What’s especially nice this year is that I think almost all fans are on board. Some will feel better as p,ayers on Utica get recalled. Some even better if we can make a trade or two and somehow lan another first. But overall everyone seems to have the same expectations and seem ok.

Early last year Granlund Sutter and Dorsett got a ton of ice and were out consistently against top lines. They were very effective. Looks like Sutter, and Virtanen are Green’s shut down guys this year with one of Motte, Baertschi, or Granlund on left wing. Jake should be seeing lots of ice against the best players in the league as long as he plays that role effectively. If that is how it plays out, this should be a great year for Jake’s development. He was certainly getting under Stamko’s skin tonight.

The D was decent without the puck against the attack, but they were atrocious with the puck against the forecheck.

See what happens when a goalie keeps a team in it? aha.
Sparks some confidence in the team.

Fucking eh, good job boys, EP rising superstar in the making.

All the young bros chipping in, Virtanen with a goal and a assist, Grans the pk specialist scores, and notably the young sniper smashed one in Boeser!
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Wow, game belongs to Nilsson.
That win doesn't happen without him purchasing time for the rest to come around.
No longer fair for the brass to say Markstrom is #1.
Cause he really isn't one. Never was.

The play still looks like preseason and we are fortunate to have prevailed.
Much has been said about LE but geez man, missing the net by 2 feet 3 times in a game? AND, no big pressure to blame it on?
C'mon, start doing target practice or something unique like looking up :bang:

I don't know about team bonding but I'm sure it will happen within a hand full more games as everyone will have played with everyone.

Pouliott can't skate at all anymore. Something looks wrong with him, (his stride). No idea?

Wonder what happens when the guy that has had between 70 and 80 fights, that is coming off, a concussion, yikes, gets in.
Who flies? I'll be mad if it's Goldy or Jake.

Eriksson screened the goalie on the EP's goal. LE did not get a point but it might not have been a goal without his presence.
