Prove it to me Blob, throw out a scenario with numbers.

You are Wrongo Luongo.
I’m not wasting my time jotting down the Canucks payroll. They have 15 guys signed through 19/20 at about 50 million. Boeser will get a 6 million raise that makes 16 guys at 56. Demko will get just under a mill. 17 at 57. The defence will feature Tanev, Stecher, Gudbranson and Biega. One good player who’s always hurt and three scrubs barely good enough to be in the league. It needs a massive makeover. Juolevi and Hughes gonna get it done?

If they didn’t keep spending massive cash on bottom end players they’d have a whole lot more to spend. But you know this so it’s redundant discussing it with you.

17 at 57 = $3.352M per player.

If the cap stays the same that leaves $23 for the other 6 players.

6 at 23 = $3.833M per player.

So what's the problem?

Lots of cap space.

Then you factor in the cap rising another few mill - mucho cap space.

Then you factor in those 6 players will all be on ELCs (much less than $3.833M per) - TONS of cap space.

I know you'd rather not do the math, you'd prefer to talk out your ass unchallenged but...

TOO BAD.

Juolevi, Hughes, Tryamkin, and maybe Woo/Brisebois/Chatfield (all on ELCs btw, 'cept Tree on a bridge) ... sure. 8-)

Meh.... the defence is still a garbage fire looking a year out. One good d man among the four signed.

The cap can’t continue to go up up and away. There’s another work stoppage coming

I never said they wouldn’t have cap space which you continually ignore. I said to Dude that they wouldn’t be in cap hell. I said they could have a hell of a lot more. But I guess that part of the post seems to get ignored.

If things remain the same (no vets shipped out, no UFAs signed) we'll have ~ $20M in cap space in 2019 with all 23 signed. :mex:

Not cap hell but managing the cap isn’t a strong point of his that’s for sure.

"their cap hits don't affect the team one iota at this stage"

Nope they don’t affect the team one bit as we speak. That may change July 1, 2019.
He's "managing the cap" splendidly, which means YOU are "Wrongo Luongo"

And because of that we don't have to worry at all about "July 1, 2019".

Meh whatever blows your back hair up buds. I would counter by saying you are trying to jam a jug of koolaid into a shot glass. I have already predicted a modest improvement in the point totals for the team and am bullish on quite a few prospects. That said I’m not buying what you are selling re the teams cap management or your opinion of the defence. Go sell crazy somewhere else

Yeah I'd be hooking your IV up to that jug of koolaid pal.

By the bottom of the roster I mean the bottom pairing defenders and the third and fourth liners. Great, they are a tiny bit grittier with Roussel and Schaller. Spending huge dollars on the bottom of the roster is idiotic especially on long term deals
Sutter may well be gone, Tanev, guddy or edler may be gone, Gagner will be gone, beagle and roussel and Schaller will be replacments for Sutter, Granlund, Gagner. There will be piles of cap space, all these contracts are easily tradeable.
Also what Blob is missing is that a lot of players will be on ELCs over the next few years.

(by the time all the kids need mo money, most vets will be gone)

RD there will be tons of cap space moving forward, GMJB is managing the cap beautifully...

I agree with Doc on this. JB is managing the cap just fine. He is a great drafter, good cap manager, so so on the trades.

Overpaying an extra year on Beagle and an extra 750k on Rousell (getting him over the magic "3Million" threshold) simply makes sure that EVERY agent out there tells the client to 'never take Vancouver off the list, you might hit a payday - or get exactly what you want'. Makes sure they at least take the call to listen to any offers.. and it doesn't really hit us cap space as we have a bunch more coming off the books Inc the next couple years.
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.
