Yeah, I know you are a QA alum. This skateboard park on E. Broadway & Clark opened in 1979.Strangelove wrote: ↑Mon Jun 18, 2018 5:54 pmHA! I attended Queen Alexandra!!
No skateboard park in those days.
Never heard of a skateboard until those two kids went by, I think I was 13...
How old are you, man?!

Oh yeah, it was on the other side of Clark Drive right?
West of QA.
Are you from the hood Hank?
Skateboarding was considered silly in the circles in which I moved in those days.
Skateboarders were just begging for wedgies we figured.

Yes, other side of Clark. West of QA.
I was near that hood. More Upper Mount Pleasant area.
But I was more BMX back then. Went there often to mock the skaterz
There ya go! Search function replaces human memory.

Well I think these are the two most entertaining pages I've ever read here. Can't top that!
I will admit to one thing though. I mean, what harm can it do now?
If anyone was around in the summers of 77 &78, about 2 or 3 times a week, starting at West King Ed, southbound on Granville,
to 70th, (Marpole). Times would range between 10pm to 3am, there would be 4 to 6 car races.
We never got caught! Well one guy did once but they only gave him 3 points. Good guy, kept his mouth shut.
Had a couple of friends in East Delta that could, sometimes, here the races.
70th, was a good spot to disperse.
Ya, I was the instigator.
I'm so ashamed.
It was apropos at the time.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I'd say Ottawa got the better end of this series of deals. Boedkker is no slouch, even if he won't score as much as Hoffman. The head-scratcher is San Jose giving up Boedkker, a D prospect and a later-round pick for Hoffman, only to trade him away for three picks - none of them a first-rounder. Was this a cap-dump of Boedkker, and Wilson just wanted to load up on picks, or did he really want Hoffman until he saw what a toxic mess he was getting into? Given the short turn-around time between the trades, it makes me lean towards the former. Wilson had to have done his homework before trading for Hoffman.vic wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 7:20 amAnd gone again..Reefer2 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 6:00 am Hoffman gone.

There was a time not long ago when Hoffman's price would have been a late 1st-rounder at least. The world moves fast.
