I'm hoping our pick is one of Dobson, Boqvist or maybe Wahlstrom.Uncle dans leg wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 11:30 am Personally i like the potential of Boquist or Dobson over the other 2. Especially Hughes. 5'9 dmen are almost always a fail in the bigs.

Absolutely. OW is up there for me as well. There's top line center potential in his game. I could see a future killer 1/2 punch in the making (OW & EP)Hank wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 11:53 amI'm hoping our pick is one of Dobson, Boqvist or maybe Wahlstrom.Uncle dans leg wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 11:30 am Personally i like the potential of Boquist or Dobson over the other 2. Its tough to say which way to go is the best. Pitt has built the closest thing to a dynasty built around 2 top centers and an average D over the past few years(yes i know Letang is better than average)

Would that not make Horvat the highest paid 3rd line centre in the league @ $5.5m? The Canucks have pretty good centre depth, Pettersson, Horvat, and Gaudette. The Canucks have below average D mostly due to constant injuries and lack of defensive depth. GMJB should only pick Wahlstrom if the defenseman that he truly wants is gone.

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft
Petterson may not play centre. He’s played a lot more on the wing the past two seasons.
Wahlstrom also has been playing a lot more wing

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft
Wahlstrom is a winger, he won’t play center in the NHL according to pretty much everyone who has been asked. Pettersson whi kniws, I’m hopeful he plays Center long term.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 3:31 pm Petterson may not play centre. He’s played a lot more on the wing the past two seasons.

I agree this is the draft to take a D barring something bizarre happening, like Zadina falling to 7. Next year’s draft is full of centers so that’s the time to pick up a forward.

Yeah unless Zadina or Tkachuk falls, take a D man. There are some nice players projected to go late first round and early in the second as well. Samuelsson and Drury come to mind.

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft
This draft is so deep, that whether we pick a D or a F, I feel like Canuck fans are going to be very happy.
...except those "fanz" who love to complain about everything that is
If it were up to me though, I'd go with one of the RHD all the way.

Always pick BPA, we can figure the depth thing out later. If you think it is a D man, take him, if it is a centre, take him.

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft
Samuelsson would be a nice addition to the defence pipeline, or McIsaac or Miller. Maybe one of the Timra forwards (Olofsson and Hallander) drop and create a 2nd-round decision of BPA vs. positional need.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 9:21 pm Yeah unless Zadina or Tkachuk falls, take a D man. Friedman on his 31 Thoughts podcast shared a quote from Filip Zadina on the Montreal Canadiens where he said they are probably not taking me cause they are looking for a C or D. Friedman agreed with the quote.

Friedman on his 31 Thoughts podcast says a couple of teams have told him this whole Kotkaniemi at 3 thing is a smokescreen and Bergevin wants one of the d-men. #Habs

Friedman says he has heard internally Habs management has been told to rebuild and stock up on picks and prospects, if they improve and don’t make the playoffs next year, ownership won’t freak.

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft
I was wondering if MTL would consider trading down - I'd do Tanev and #7 for #3 and and Montreal's 2nd (#35).
Most rankings have Kotkaniemi as the top center, but I think he's #5ish amongst Euro skaters, so he'd likely be available at 7.

ISS Top 10 from June:
1 Dahlin, Rasmus LD
2 Svechnikov, Andrei RW/C
3 Zadina, Filip RW
4 Tkachuk, Brady C
5 Wahlstrom, Oliver C
6 Bouchard, Evan RD
7 Hughes, Quinn LD
8 Dobson, Noah RD
9 Boqvist, Adam LD
10 Veleno, Joseph C
Boqvist seems to be falling. Any thoughts as to why?
Meanwhile the NHL mock drafts (3) all have Dobson going at #5 to Arizona...
I wonder if Jim has them all ranked with no indecision or uncertainty. I wouldn't want the pressure. I have a hard time picking out socks for the day.
