The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenceman Alex Biega to a two-year contract extension worth an average annual value of US$825,000.

So good value. He is the perfect extra D to carry.

Any guesses? Did Bettman finally accept our bribe and we'll have a real shot in the lottery?
Officially announcing that Vancouver will host the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
Hopefully Benning does better than the last time the draft was in Vancouver, where Grabner was selected at #14.
Love the Sport. Love the Team.

Isn’t this supposed to be end of year 1 of the transformation or year 0 and the start? I can’t remember anymore with the posts changing.

Actually, Machine Gun Grabner carved out a nice career for himself. He would have been easily our best sniper if he was still a Canuck the past couple years, just Brockstar emerged this season. Grabner got a nice return @ TDD as well. :D

Eriksson has been misused since day 1. Eriksson is not a playmaker but he has good hands around the net for tipping and burying the rebounds. He should be on the first powerplay unit standing in front of the net instead of Bo.
I think the reason they have BoHo out there is for faceoffs. Hank in the dot is not good enuff. Get way more time to setup on the PP if u can win the draw.

Contract extension for Biega. I really like the guy as a 6/7 dman and I expect it will be inexpensive, so good for him. Saw him walking with his wife and young baby last week in downtown Van, not a very big guy at all but plays hard.
Nice to see BullDawg extended. I like him as a 6/7th depth guy. I think he can still get better and maybe become like a former Canuck, a Mike Weaver type.

I like the Biega signing. Sets the bar for the #8 defenceman on the team for the next 2 years. There will be no keeping a prospect up and playing him 12 minutes a night for 20 games garbage, while he rots for the other 60.

Biega is a good team guy, a Pro, who works hard and doesn't cause drama. Perfect #8 guy.

Great news! Hopefully, Lind can translate his offense to the NHL.
Vancouver Canucks‏@Canucks
#Canucks ink Kole Lind to three-year entry level contract; @klind13 has 85 points in 51 games with the @Kelowna_Rockets this season.

Rick Dhaliwal‏ @DhaliwalSports
Once Lind is done with the Kelowna Rockets, he will be off to Utica but the Rockets could go deep in the WHL playoffs. #Canucks

Loui Eriksson is done for the season with a fractured rib. :o
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

Just hearing out of the Canucks that their doctor is recommending Eriksson to retire...for at least 4 years.

From 2003-2013, Grabner was undoubtedly the best Canucks first-round pick, best drafted forward, and a toss-up with Edler for best pick period.

I think Edler and Schneider are better picks. I’d listen to an arguement for Hansen being a better pick as well , providing he can get his game back next season. Not sure what the hell has happened to him this year.

Actually, Kesler in 2003 was a great pick by Burkie. Bourdon in 2005 probably would have a very good pick as well, bless his soul.

With the draft coming to town in 2019. Ownership should tell mgmt to tank it for one more season. We need a high pick to please all the fans going to the draft. Maybe for once, Buttman will feel the pressure to rig it for us. :P
