Getting this thread back on track after it was once again rudely derailed .... I still say best player available and if you don’t land 1st and get Dahlin, the next three guys right now (could change closer to the draft) are forwards. Trade for a D man if you need to or beg Tryamkin to come back but do not pass up on Svechnikov or Tkachuk or Zadina. These guys all project as top line forwards.

Unless you are getting a serious add from a team to drop back three or four spots out of that top four it’s crazy to reach for a defenceman again.

I tried to look up what Benning makes, but couldn't find it. Does anybody here know ?

Lol Poolparty is crap but Juolevi is a stud. Keep the laughs coming . One guy is an NHLer and the other has been a healthy scratch at times in the Finnish beer league.
Nolan Patrick is in the NHL, that must mean he's better than Pettersson

Poolparty is on almost a 20 goal pace in the NHL. Olli is a bottom pairing guy/ healthy scratch in the equivalent of the ECHL

Did you write this one, Blobby?
https://thehockeywriters.com/canucks-olli-juolevi-hype/
Lol not me but it must be frustrating to the “we had to draft a d man because” crowd that Sergachev, Macevoy and Chychrun are looking good in the league while Olli looks nowhere near playing in the NHL. Or Tkachuk who’s well on his way to being a top 3 forward.
LoL for fuck sakes blob Juolevi is only 19 still, hasn't even played an NHL game yet, Euro dmen always take awhile to develop to be pros', just like Hedman took awhile - 4 years of the NHL before he broke out in his 5th year.

Even John Klingberg after draft had a few crappy years in Sweden/Finland, then he had a good shl season before he came over spent 10 games in ahl, then dominated in the pro's.

Juolevi has been getting a lot of praise from his coaches who actually watch him play and practice everyday, even Comets gm Johnson is impressed with his rising confidence and skill set.

The best teams draft their dmen and pretty much never let em go rarely as they are extremely hard to acquire, so it's great we drafted and are properly developing Juolevi, he's not going to be a high scoring Qb type, but he'll be a solid dman with high IQ while getting some points every season, he's proven he can play with talent and help a team win ala London Knights and the Finland team before both teams lost alllll their high-end forward talent to the NHL.

How many blue chipper dmen do the Canucks have right now? that's right, just one in Olli Juolevi, if you want a Nashville type defense, you have to draft dmen a lot, do your homework on em, it's the only way to build an elite defense.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Sergachev, Hedman, Hampus, OEL, Karlsson all played as 18/19 year olds and in most cases as top 4 guys.

Are they European enough ?

Even the most retarded fans know offensive scoring players are the quickest to transition to the pro's successfully - from forwards to defense where Karlsson/OEL/Sergachev reside in.

The type of players who take longer to develop in the NHL are:
- Goalies
- Power forwards
- Two-way dmen (where Juolevi falls in that category).

Hedman is supposed to be a generational type dman selected 2nd overall, he wasn't dominating right away, but he had the size/weight to play.

Hampus played a year in the ahl scoring a whopping 11 points in 44 games, been averaging 30 points per season since, not exactly ripping the league a part. What I figure Juolevi will be like, averaging 30 points per when he adjusts to the pro's.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
