Probably until they get their first injury and stop fluking out.5thhorseman wrote:I wonder how long you guys are going to call this a fluke.Reefer2 wrote:Is Edmonton scared yet, down 3 - 0 in the 1st period.
Toronto flukes out another win.
I mean, the Canucks have already lost their #1D and a top-6 winger (...ok, top-9 winger) for 4-6 weeks, and its only been 5 games!
...unless you think their current results are for real, and they'll go 72-6 for the year?

I think posters are just too consumed by their hate and aren't thinking straight. Plus, Reefer has been hitting the sauce a bit too much latelyESQ wrote:Probably until they get their first injury and stop fluking out.5thhorseman wrote:I wonder how long you guys are going to call this a fluke.Reefer2 wrote:Is Edmonton scared yet, down 3 - 0 in the 1st period.

Tanev isn’t hurt and Eriksson has had zero impact since July 2, 2016ESQ wrote:Probably until they get their first injury and stop fluking out.5thhorseman wrote:I wonder how long you guys are going to call this a fluke.Reefer2 wrote:Is Edmonton scared yet, down 3 - 0 in the 1st period.

That McDavid spin-o-rama on Keith was a thing of beauty.

Apparently Boeser's shot is pretty hard. Definitely looked like the shots hurt, but didn't think they actually broke McQuaid's leg.

Nobody has really been able to explain this but any goalie you talk to will say there is a difference.DonCherry4PM wrote:http://www.tsn.ca/bruins-d-mcquaid-out- ... s-1.891032

Actually if you read that link a user mentions a very plausible explanation - the amount of spin the player places on the puck. An increase in RPMs would equate to more energy transfer upon impact. Radar guns will only measure linear velocity not rotation.micky107 wrote:Nobody has really been able to explain this but any goalie you talk to will say there is a difference.DonCherry4PM wrote:http://www.tsn.ca/bruins-d-mcquaid-out- ... s-1.891032

I was thinking of another possibility as well, goalies will tell you a player hides his shot well. Meaning it's hard to pick up the release point of the shot, I would wager a guess that these players seem to have a heavier shot. What likely happens is that the goalie has a harder time picking up the puck on a shot and has less time to prepare for impact. So he isn't flexing muscles at the same time as he would for a shot that is easier to pick up!
Re: October OOTS
I remember that most shots I blocked, no matter how fast, if the puck was spinning it would usually deflect off the shin pads and not hurt but if the puck had no spin the impact was painful like a hammer.

AP it's like some guys throw a " heavy" ball right. I don't know the answer but it's real
A "heavy ball" is one that has late movement and hits the receiver's glove in a non-sweet spot. It hurts the hand, and the ball can feel like it weighs a pound when that happens. Hence the term, "Heavy ball."
The above makes sense to me

American hockey is trending - Matthews, Keller, Wetenski, Gaudreau, Eichel, McAvoy, Tkachuk, Boeser etc while Canadians are busting badly Reinhart, Bennett, Dal Colle, Strome, Virtanen, McKinnon, Dubios, Hayden Fleury. It's just McDavid all by himself against American hockey

Actually a pitcher is a perfect example. Some guys hide the ball extremly well when they throw, it’s hard to pick up because of their delivery. The ball isn’t moving any faster than other pitchers but because it’s harder to pick up it seemingly gets there faster.
