We pay for it in the present but if we had a cup it wouldn't be as painful
Um so because of that weird logic he should not care about drafting well with the picks they had at the draft? Just phone it in, "pick whoever, I don't give a Rats ass"?

The book isn't written on Jake yet. Power Forward Wingers take a little longer. I guarantee you Jake will play a big factor with this new culture Benning is farming here. Patience Grasshopper

Yeano kinda , but the lack of picks aided to the disaster, the ones traded away...

Also to clarify... I am not saying he did good...

He needed to follow the Detroit model and get lucky in the later rounds.

Just because Todd Bertuzzi took a while to develop doesn't mean power forwards take any longer to develop than any other player. Eric Lindros, Brendan Shanahan, Milan Lucic, Keith Tkachuk, and Cam Neely say hi.

Benning does well outside the first round, what's Gillis excuse? Only Hutton in 6 drafts? My gawd man!

Useless feeble excuse. Benning has traded picks and still manages to add valuable assets to the organization through the draft.

You won't finish writing the book on Hunter Shrinkydink who is a year older than Jake but you slammed the book on Virtanen permanently shut?

So the Dallas situation has no value in comparison?

Nope I hope he pans out but it doesn't look good when pretty much the entire first round of 2014 are NHL regulars.

Not sure what the fascination with Shinkaruk is, I was never a massive fan just wish they had dealt him for a player other than Granlund. At this point it looks like a win for Ignitowski and I've said as much even though I'm not a big fan of Granlund

Granlund scored 20 goals with a bum wrist all season. Gillis true 2013 1st round pick - Shrinkydink has toiled miserably in the minors since being drafted. Massive asset improvement by the Genius, ahhhhhhgain
