Dale Talon back as GM of Florida. That didn't take long. Wonder if he wants Gudbranson back? Kidding, kidding, I like Gudbranson.

Yes upon further review I don't want Ruff, too senior experienced at this point.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

My sense is that's what Benning and Linden think too. We are not ready to compete at a contender level, still need to work the kids.
Maybe Gallant.

Hitchcock to Dallas. Presser Thursday to introduce him.
Florida seeks permission from the Canucks to talk to Green. No word yet if it will be granted.
Stevens maybe on the outs in LA
Crow on Florida's list too but they can't speak to him until Ottawa done.

Great day to be a flames fan.
The NHL linesman injured after being hit by a Calgary Flames player has filed a $10.25-million lawsuit against the hockey team and the player he says is responsible for his concussion, among other injuries.

If Wideman's excuse is he didn't know what he was doing because he was concussed, and Calgary was warned about it (which is the rumor), then that lawsuit is going to be really interesting.Cornuck wrote:The NHL linesman injured after being hit by a Calgary Flames player has filed a $10.25-million lawsuit against the hockey team and the player he says is responsible for his concussion, among other injuries.

I agree . Even out the playing field. Vancouver has Sutter and Eriksson counting 10+ million against the capAaronp18 wrote:That $10M should count against the cap!

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Kovalchuk Wants to return to the NHL. But there are snags. He is on the Voluntary Retirement List (VRL). NJD hold his NHL rights. So, if he comes back:
1) If he signs with NJD he then needs to clear waivers.
2) NJD can't trade his rights. They can do a sign and trade.
3) He can sign with another team but then all other 30 teams need to approve of the contract, this due to the VRL.
His easiest route back maybe to just sign with NJD but unless it's a crazy contract I can't see him clearing waivers. The NHL doesn't make it easy for players on VRL, who have been playing in another league, to come back and write their own ticket. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
