Girardi is 32 and Gudbranson is 24. I will take Gudbranson over Girardi and McCann any day.Hockey Widow wrote: Just think, we could have had Girardi and still kept McCann.

Pretty difficult to assess which is the better deal (Giraldi vs Gudbranson) without knowing what Giraldi would have cost. Besides, as mentioned, Gudbranson is much younger.
Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion
ugh Girardi, imagine the hatred fuming from everyone in Vancouver if we got him and his horrendous contract, a 32 years old, $5.5M per for another 4 years.
A lot of teams are still trying to land a top 4 dman now and it's proven to be difficult as the asking price is pretty high.
Sometimes it's better to make these big trades before the draft/ufa season, no bidding wars to up the price, its a similar deal like how the flamers got Hamilton for a 1st #15 overall and two 2nd rounders out of nowhere.
Kuzma just reported (forgive me if this was posted elsewhere) looks like if the Oilers land Lucic they will trade their mighty Taylor Hall (one of the best younger LW in the league) for dman Hamonic...as no one wants Yak, stock plummeted.
Thats the price of trying to improve your defense, which is expensive, hence we got a decent deal for Guddy.
And now we finally got a blue chipper in Juolevi, defense finally having some promise for the long haul as someone mentioned putting down your foundation for your team.

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I'd take a gamble on Yakupov. May turn out to be a Baertschi type of project. Sbisa for Yakupov.

Agreed. Don't know the acquisition cost. Gotta imagine though that it would not have been a cap dump by Rangers.

One more reason for Asshole Benning to sign Lucic.SKYO wrote: Kuzma just reported... looks like if the Oilers land Lucic they will trade their mighty Taylor Hall (one of the best younger LW in the league) for dman Hamonic

Unless the Rags were taking Higgins and Burrows from us I'm taking Guds 99 times out of 100 compared to Girardi. Even if they were I think i still like a 24 year old Gudbranson knowing what we gave up to get him!Hockey Widow wrote:gobi wrote:Pretty difficult to assess which is the better deal (Giraldi vs Gudbranson) without knowing what Giraldi would have cost. Hall for Hamonic would be a steal for the Islanders.

I dunno, I hear from hardcore Oiler fans that Hall is not dedicated to the game of hockey.Island Nucklehead wrote:Hall for Hamonic would be a steal for the Islanders.

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion
Hamonic brings way more value to a hockey team than Hall when it comes to winning. You don't win with the Taylor Hall Stat padders of the world. Hamonic is a warrior in big games, Hall folds like a cheap tent not too mention that he is apparently a dressing room pouter. Halls biggest problem is his play away from the puck, and lack of a 200' game, terrible defensively and puts the David Booth blinders on when skating with the puck. I think he's one of the most overrated players in the game. The Oilers would be far better hockey team if that trade were to happen
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

Has anyone told Chiarelli that Sbisa is a top 4? We'll help him out and give him a deal.
Sbisa for
Yakupov and Edmonton's 2nd next year. I mean it wasn't enough to get Gudbranson but we're neighbours right, sort of.

Nice hit. Problem is if he does that in a Canucks uniform he'd get suspended.
