I would see this as a typical Benning move - what are the odds on a 3rd rounder making an impact - vs turning around a talented player with a change of scenery.

Wonder if 3rd plus Hamhuis rights would get it done? Doubt it would be enough, but I'd definitely be game. Don't think he [Yak] has been used properly over here and could make a turn-around. (On a side note: can you trade rights on a player with a no trade clause? I can't even recall if Hamhuis has a limited or no trade contract.)

Edm needs D, offer Sbisa, who is 3.6 for 2 years, we take Yak at 2.5 for one yr, then RFA, see if he can get his act together. It would be a win win for us, not sure if Edm goes for it but if they have a tough time finding D maybe they see the relative trade-off (basically 1 mill more on cap for a 5/6 D guy), who knows. Otherwise, would offer no better than 4th pick. I sense Edm really wants Yak out of there, esp now with the new Finn on the roster.

Interesting about Helm, could be that '2nd' UFA forward they were talking about trying to get after a winger.

Seriously they need to be careful how they do this. The league is already pissed at them for the cock's salary and for so obviously tanking. If the marketing has anything to do with MLSE it sure would be circumvention to me. They must have a plan that is outside of that that they will somehow facilitate and not connect it with the team.

We get screwed on the Luongo clause, other teams get to trade injured players, take on dead weight and now this.

Come July 1st, I don't expect to see any of the top UFA's finding their way to Vancouver and given the talk that the market for them is over heated I think they should take a back seat...

But the player I do hope they can sign is Matt Martin from the Islanders...

Brings a lot of what Lucic does but at a fraction of the cost...

I'd disagree with some of the guys on this list, but would agree with Clouts. He totally epitomized a panic attack goalie for us. Not sure it's a good thing he's our goaltending coach now.

He's a 3rd liner, and we kinds have the 3rd line covered...so...while I like his size, and he is cheap, he doesn't really address our need for a quality top 6 forward. I'm not sold on Looch either. Brower or Okposo seem better options for our needs.
