Well... we shall see. Let's hope Jim sees a concern in Tkachuk,

As far as I know, he's considered to be a far superior skater, with better offensive upside, when compared to Hamhuis. And Hamhuis was widely considered a top pairing guy in his prime.

I think when a group of forwards put up obscene numbers, often there's a puck-moving D behind the scenes who goes under-appreciated. I hope that's the case here.

Yeah... I wanted Tkachuk... but this isn't the end of the world.

The concern will be that Tkachuk starts destroying the Canucks in front of the net in a few years. Who knows if Juloevi will even be making a dent by then?

Fuck this draft, man. First we get screwed out of a top 3 pick. Now we end up with like the 7th best ranked skater after that horrid season.

To top it all of the Oilers somehow end up with Puljujarvi. And here I thought I wasn't going to drink tonight.

Like, I'm sure, like, Juolevi will be, like, a good player in like, 2022. Our next GM will probably appreciate that, but Tkachuk could have helped this team in 2 years.

The concerns are skating and two-way play. Not nothing.

Besides... who knows... maybe he interviewed badly. He does seem like a weird dude (and yeah... also an asshole :().

Holy crap you guys. Could you be more pessimistic? Some lists have Juolevi at 6th. So you're all having a fit that we dropped one place? They need a centre and a D and both centres were gone. Puck moving defensemen are crucial. I'm not saying I prefer this pick, but if he's the higher-skilled player in the long run, it's a good pick for a position of need.

No to Tkachuk. Does that mean Lucic is now a guarantee?

At least this Nylander looks like his dad and not his mom.

Mondi wrote:Hopefully this new kid if tougher than he looks.
Not every kid has to be tough. Gudbranson opens the doors to adding some more puck movement and possession play back there.

The reason all the fancy stats people hate Gudbranson is the reason he needs a guy like Juolevi to play with.

I've said the same about Jordan Subban in the past, but the two are not in the same category of prospect quality, and Juolevi is a left shot, whereas both Subban and Gudbranson shoot right.

Say what you want about how, maybe, Juolevi wasn't the BPA... but Benning's said he saw the 4-6 picks as being very close in value, and it makes sense that he sees Juolevi as fitting our needs the best.

Relax everyone - he's 18 and the best dman in the draft. It's not a sexy pick but it's a good one. If there's one thing Benning can do its draft.

Still plenty of time in the offseason and lots of cap space to make changes. We aren't going to be good next year anyway so might as well get used to some disappointment.

Joe Sakic picks himself.

Tyson Jost will probably be the Avs captain one day.
