Hey, that's a great idea if you ever land in prison!
Tell fellow prisoners you're "an undercover police officer".
But seriously...
Sounds like an awesome dad right there eh?
A lot of folks, myself included, commented on how miserable Linden Vey always seems.
Now we know why.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

He was talking about having them pose ala Ryan Kesler a few years ago, "exposing" themselves.Strangelove wrote:Most of the rumours seem to be saying NMCs on non-expiring contracts can't be exposed in an expansion draft.Madcombinepilot wrote:Next year, you simply expose the Sedins.

Those are the depth guys that, tend to play 'over their contract' and win you playoff games...
Planning ahead for this will be a priority

I predict it's Hansen that we lose, if we still have him. He's the kinda guy an expansion team would love, as it still gives them the room to grab solid UFA's.Madcombinepilot wrote:Topper wrote:The guys not protested won't be a huge loss.....to any team. If we do not trade Hansen this year why in hell would we expose one of our best and most players from last year? This makes no sense. Are you really our old GM in disguise?Tciso wrote:I predict it's Hansen that we lose, if we still have him. I love every move Jim Benning makes
Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17
Cuz he"ll have one year left on his contract by then, and be 31. Better to lose him than a guy like Baertschi at that point. It all depends on how many players we can protect, but Hansen is less valuable going forward than Baertschi, Horvat, Etem (hopefully) and a few others that might need protection but more valuable than say a guy like Dorsett.damonberryman wrote:If we do not trade Hansen this year why in hell would we expose one of our best and most players from last year? Dreger: Benning isn't fully sold on keeping the 5th overall pick & could move it to get back into playoffs. #Canucks https://t.co/yMGJJQLncV
Edmonton is more eager to move. They’re not shopping the fourth pick overall, but certainly willing to listen. And obviously they would want a defenseman in return, whoever that might be.
“Vancouver is similar. Vancouver likes fifth overall. They know they’re getting a very, very good player, but Jim Benning did not like being part of the non-playoff picture in the National Hockey League. He’s going to do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
“So 3, 4, and 5 COULD definitely be in play.”
And in other news....
Eklund: something will happen at some point E5

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17
I know i'm not out on a limb but I think it's a stone cold lock that we see a move from Edmonton at the draft or before FA starts. I'm in the camp that thinks it'll be a current roster player or players...i read somewhere (i believe the edm blogger on hockeybuzz) that because a large chunk of their draft picks are already with the big Club that their farm team/future/prospect depth is lacking. If accurate, would lead me to believe they'd prefer to keep the 4th.
This is the added bonus of the Gudbranson trade. Keeping what the Oilers so desperately need, out of their hands. Not sure if we will ever know for certain if they made an offer or if they were indeed in on talks with FLA, but u have to believe they would have had sizeable interest in a big, mean, R handed D man who can eat up minutes. If Benning did overpay - i for one don't think he did - it's worth it for the added benefit of stopping, at least for the time being, EDM from getting better where they need it most.

I'd agree with all of that.Rocky Dennis wrote:I know i'm not out on a limb but I think it's a stone cold lock that we see a move from Edmonton at the draft or before FA starts. Still, I'd be shocked if the Coil don't get their man (RS dee).
They have forwards to trade... and that 4th o/a if needs-be.
Hamonic, Trouba, Shattenkirk are said to be available if the price is right.
You know what other team is also desperate for a RS dee?
The Leaves.
They traded away their top RS d-men last season (Phaneuf + Polak - who were also their only physical dee).
They told their fans (who swallowed it up as usual) that Zaitsev + rookies would fill they void.
But. They. Don't. Fool. Me.
No way are Babs + Lou interested in going into the season with that mess in front of a shaky Bernier.
They'll have to trade Nylander for one of the two young defensemen I mentioned though.
(I think they would be inclined to make a trade like that)
I was reading in a major Leaf forum today, it's AMAZING how sold they are on RS Zaitsev!
"First-team 2016 KHL All Star!!" they say.
Yeah well so was Canucks' RS Philip Larsen!
Leafers know as much about Zaitsev as we know about Larsen.
But The Cock said Zaitsev will play in the Leaves' top-4 so he must be totally awesome.
BTW Cam Barker was also on that 2016 KHL All Star roster.
But I digress.
Point is the price will be high for top-4 physical RS d-men, but there are 2 teams right there who will pay it.
I'm sure there are others.
I like the price Benning paid for Guds.

I don't think we should be justifying moves by what it may have prevented Edmonton from doing. They have a ton of assets, and I think you're right they're going to be active this summer. Tyson Barrie in Edmonton? Shattenkirk? Despite his rescinded trade request, Hamonic? What happens with the 4th, RNH, Eberle? Lucic? They should be one of the more interesting teams to watch this summer.

Yeah, I get the feeling he's available. Probably realized the Islanders had a better chance of getting an acceptable offer when everyone has a shot. Rescinds trade requests, get offers from a dozen+ teams, drive up price for the target teams. Not like he has an NTC anyways, I just think nobody wants to trade for a malcontent.Strangelove wrote:Rumors are that he's still on the block to his preferred locations.Island Nucklehead wrote: Despite his rescinded trade request, Hamonic?
