GDT: Ducks @ Canucks 11/20/14 7 PM PST SNV

Post by donlever »

The return of one Ryan Kesler. Should be interesting. I'll not be surprised if he is so amped up that he flies around like it's 2011 again out there tonight.

To bad we aren't sitting at home fresh.

We shall see how it plays out.

I may even watch this one.

DUCKS (11-4-5) at CANUCKS (13-6-0)

Season series: The Anaheim Ducks are making their first of three visits to Rogers Arena, where they have won four in a row. The Vancouver Canucks earned a 2-1 shootout win against the Ducks at Honda Center on Nov. 9 in the first of five games between the teams this season.

Ducks team scope: All eyes will be on Anaheim center Ryan Kesler, who's playing in Vancouver as a visitor for the first time after being traded to the Ducks by the Canucks during the summer. He's not sure what kind of reception he'll receive from the fans who used to cheer him. "Hopefully they appreciated the 11 years that I played here, and remember the good times," he said Wednesday. "I'm hoping for a warm reception, but if not, it's part of the game." The Ducks are 1-1-5 in their past seven games and are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss at the Calgary Flames on Tuesday in which they blew a 2-0 lead in the third period.

Canucks team scope: The Canucks return to Vancouver after a run-and-gun 5-4 road victory against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. Vancouver couldn't hold leads of 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3, but was able to hold off the Oilers after Yannick Weber's goal with 8:28 remaining in regulation broke a 4-4 tie. The Canucks' top line of Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin and Radim Vrbata piled up seven points, with Vrbata scoring twice and the Sedins earning the assists on Weber's game-winner. Ryan Miller stopped 28 shots for the win but has allowed nine goals in his past two starts; backup Eddie Lack could get the call in the second half of back-to-back games.

Hell with the game, I'm going to Bette's tribute to girl groups.

I wonder if it includes the ones I saw at No.5 Orange?

3 crappy games in a row from Miller, and yet we're still battling for 1st in the Pacific. :?

Ducks have lost 6 of their last 7 games, but have the loser point in 5 of them.
Sputtering on all cylinders I guess. :)

Well played KS.

By the Numbers

.143

Win percentage for the Ducks in their last seven games (1-1-5). They've still earned points in six of seven.

.250

Win percentage for the Canucks when playing on zero days rest (1-3-0). The lone win came against Anaheim.

2

Straight games without a point for Anaheim's Ryan Kesler. His longest point-drought this season is 3 games.

4

Straight home losses for the Canucks against the Ducks dating back to January 19, 2013.

252

Days since Ryan Kesler's last game at Rogers Arena. He scored a goal in his final game as a Canuck on April 13, 2014.

999

Career games played for Daniel Sedin, counting tonight. He's expected to play in career game No. 1000 on Sunday against Chicago.

Kid has leaves logos on his skate guards. I asked him about that, "It's ok, my blades are sharp and will cut them up."
