Re: Sabers Buy Out Ehrhoff
There would be only one reason to do it, or any other UFA for that matter - deadline trade bait. Provided you can sign them at sellable terms. It's about acquiring as much picks/prospects as possible by whatever means necessary. The danger of course is if they actually help you win, but I don't think we'd have to worry about that with any UFA out there.

Wow, bit of a surprise with this one. Edler was never quite the same since we lost Hoff and our PP turned to shits after as well. Yeah, he'll probably get another nice contract and not really sure I want him back. If he's willing to take a decent contract at maybe 2-3 years, then maybe.
Re: Sabers Buy Out Ehrhoff
No one will sign him for 6 years. He just got bought out for 7 years. He was such a trade-able asset. Dumbest buy-out I have seen yet.BladesofSteel wrote:Ehrhoff instantly becomes the most coveted d-man on the market tomorrow.
At 32, he won't sign for less than 6 years.

The cream puff is laughing all the way to the bank.
Less Canucks embarrassment please.

No kidding.sagebrush wrote:The cream puff is laughing all the way to the bank.
He earned $22M in Buffalo over three years, plus he gets whatever's owed to him from the buyout, plus he gets to move out of Buffalo.
Win. Win. Win.

Re: Sabers Buy Out Ehrhoff
If Erhoff knows what playing the body hard is, he decided it's too much effort. His idea of clearing the crease is to get out of the way.
he isn’t overly physical
he's not particularly physical
Cream puff.

I can't see us trading for Tyler Myers, PK Subban or Shea Weber anytime soon, team desperately needs a right side QB so if you can grab one of Ehrhoff or Niskanen as an UFA it's a no brainer.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

The Canucks play in the meat & potatoes division. To succeed in this club, we need more meat & potatoes guys, not CREAM PUFFS.
The only way we should be accepting a CREAM PUFF is if he's exceptionally skilled, & we get significantly more physical elsewhere. Doubtful.
PS - 2011 is over. We lost.

Sabres were probably worried he'd retire in the summer of 2018 at age 36 with three $1m seasons left.Tciso wrote:He was such a trade-able asset. Dumbest buy-out I have seen yet.
(worried about the cap-recapture penalties)

Where did I say I wanted all crease clearers, straw - SKYO? How can we take anything you say seriously when you invent conversations to argue against?SKYO wrote:You want all crease clearers? lol give your head a shake we need a QB dman.
Not all PP QBs are CREAM PUFFS. Good players are a compromise between many abilities. A lesser PP QB may be just what the doctor ordered, if he isn't a CREAM PUFF. Alternately, when you have a CREAM PUFF, other players have to pick up the physical load.

Re: Sabers Buy Out Ehrhoff
Fact: Ehrhoff is one of the better skating/puck rushing defensemen in the league.
Fact: Ehrhoff and Edler had excellent chemistry and Edler's game took a dive when the 'Hoff left.
Fact: The Canucks have no soon-to-be NHL talent on the blueline in Utica, especially of the PPQB variety.
Fact: The Canucks need a puck rushing, top-pairing-capable, defenseman.
Ehrhoff fits here on a 3 year (max) deal and a cap hit of $4M.

Actually, ... Edler's game went for a shit after Salo left. Check the stats.
Salo was the rock, the support structure for Edler.

Well it's how you make it sound, you don't want that fucking annoying term "cream puff" type dman, you want a meat and potato dman you said, with your clearing the crease observation.sagebrush wrote:The Canucks play in the meat & potatoes division.
