This looks to be the most interesting crop of Canucks prospects in 10 years.Southern_Canuck wrote:It is pretty interesting to look ahead and try to project the 2014-15 Utica Comets lineup ..
Less Canucks embarrassment please.

Yeah - two of Horvat, Jensen, and Shinkaruk will probably make the Canucks...
I'm thinking Horvat makes the cut, and Jensen has a decent chance... if Jensen (or Shinkaruk) make the NHL, that would give Gaunce a better chance to break into the AHL in a top 6 role...

Re: 2014-15 Utica Comets
Veteran leadership is key for Utica this next couple of years.
Retaining Pelletier to take an offensive load and O'Reilly and Biega for stability are important for this young franchise. Hopefully Travis Green will indeed be back, as a revolving door of coaches/veterans for a developing team is never beneficial.
As for RFA's, I could see Archie, and Andersson back for sure. Here's hoping Lain makes a serious push for the big club come October. Asshole factor and all.

Pelletier has signed to go play in god forsaken Russia.

That's really too bad - he provided the veteran scoring presence the younger players needed...herb wrote:Pelletier has signed to go play in god forsaken Russia.
Cal O'Reilly joined the Comets midway through the season on an AHL contract, and was a big part of their strong finish - I hope they can bring him back.

Might be some trying times, at least in the beginning, if they let too many vets go but in the end it may afford the youngsters some opportunities they might not otherwise get.

I'd really like them to sign Costello, sounds like a solid grinder w/ some skill to have in the system.

Green sticks with Utica: http://www.theprovince.com/sports/hocke ... story.html
Good to see him stay in the organization. I think he did some good things over the course of the season. Hopefully he'll get more support from the coaching staff in Vancouver than he did under the previous regime.
...and another coaching candidate says 'no' to Crosby, Malkin and the Pens; and 'yesy' to Vancouver. Button's head must be spinning.

Re: 2014-15 Utica Comets
This was in the Canucks Corner Chat section, but it is relevant for the Comets:
Canucks sign Jeffrey, O'Reilly & Sanguinetti
Nice for O'Reilly (27) who played briefly in the KHL last season, but came back after playing only 14 games and got an AHL contract with the Comets.
Sanguinetti (26) had a big season for the OHL Battalion back in 2007-08 playing with none other than Cody Hodgson.
Jeffrey (26) has 31 points in 124 NHL games, but has scored well in the AHL.

Been a long time since we've had credible, young prospects with NHL upside on the farm.ClamRussel wrote:Updated, starting to take shape.

Re: 2014-15 Utica Comets
No kidding, very long time! This doesn't even factor in Horvat, Cassels, Hutton & Subban (coming down the pipe) to say nothing of this year's draft as well. No apparent superstars in the mix but a helluva solid crop.Island Nucklehead wrote:Been a long time since we've had credible, young prospects with NHL upside on the farm.
