Circle the Wagons

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Circle the Wagons

Post by Topper »

Shawn has resigned.

Despite all the criticism on both sides Shawn Atleo has worked with Steven Harper's government to gain progressive step wise recognition of aboriginals in Canada. He long ago realized that the status qou was broken and was willing to work step wise to fix it. He was a voice of reason to non aboriginal Canadians. He knew the welfare system on the reserves could not continue no matter how large the handouts.

Unfortunately he has become a victim of the infighting within the aboriginal community. Those that want a continuation of the welfare state and greater welfare payments have finally ousted those willing to work for solutions.

The education act did have flaws, but it was far better than what is in place and provided a great starting point for future developments, but Palmateer and her Manitoba mob wants it all and wants it now without accountability. The same folks who supported the incompetently corrupt Spence are now taking over the AFN.

Say goodbye to aboriginals gaining private equity and embrace the corruption, squalor and squandering of funds that is deeply rooted in the current reserve system.

Get ready for confrontation the likes we haven't seen before. How long before the Point Grey and West Van housewives stop supporting them?

^How about we see who takes his place first before the doomsday scenario.

Harper lost his man, just need a national chief that isn't so much a yes man and strong enough to deal with the pressures of very strong minded National Executive.

I didn't see Shawn as the Harper yes man that his opponents claim. Shawn drove a hard bargain while walking a fine line between knowing what was a realistic accomplishment and standing on a soap box demanding the world while getting nothing.

The Palmateer group is not going to do anyone any good. Hopefully another Shawn Atleo rises and moves aboriginals into the 21st century.

fuck that no way Palmateer will be in charge, don't need that psycho at the helm.

Atleo was on the right path, but as I said finding a national chief who can handle the pressure and have the foresight to deal with the haters almost like a Native Harper *gasp* will be key for a more prosperous future.

I've worked with Palmateer, not only is she hot as hell, she's smarter than most on this board but also never touched a drop of booze. :P

Idle No More will be Rape and Pillage the White Man! :D

Thank the Gods™ too, they suck!
