Well, when it was recently alleged that Tortorella was saying that Feaster is a GM he could work with - do you think he already knows something? That he is in the know - he is inside the Aquilini "cone of silence"?

Maybe Feaster has already been hired, like the Gillis/Nonis situation of 2008...

Wow.

Didn't expect them to move so fast but I'm glad they did.

Thanks for the memories Mike!

No to Linden as president. Linden needs more on his resume than being a figurehead of Club 16 to be president of the Vancouver Canucks.

Bob Nicholson would be a fantastic choice and would immediately bolster our drafting & farm system.

Wow - so nobody is owning up to hiring Torts?

Is there a 2nd axe waiting in the wings?

Business is business and I can only assume this decision was being discussed for a while, it isn't a knee jerk reaction, however failing to make the playoffs was probably the final act in Gillis's demise. Assuming ownership is on the hook for the balance of Gillis's contract, one would speculate they would at least have the business acumen to hire a replacement who is going to succeed where Gillis failed, since hiring and firing successive GM's can get quite costly. Looking at Calgary Feaster certainly isn't the solution.

It remains to be seen whether the coaching staff is next to go.

FWIW - from Wikipedia
Shortly after, in 1998, he received a call from Tampa Bay Lightning general Manager, Jacques Demers, who offered him a position as the team's assistant general manager. Feaster accepted, and quickly took over contractual and legal matters for the organization. He continued in that position through the tenures of Demers and Rick Dudley until he was promoted as Dudley's replacement in February 2002. Under Feaster's management, the Lightning won consecutive Southeast Division titles in 2003 and 2004. In the 2003–04 NHL season, the Lightning won the first Stanley Cup in franchise history while The Sporting News named Feaster as the league's executive of the year. Feaster remained general manager until 2008, when he grew frustrated at interference in the team's hockey operations by the Lightning's new owners Len Barrie and Oren Koules. He had three years remaining on his contract with the Lightning when he announced his resignation.
Left 3 years salary on the table and quit because of meddling owners - Vancouver's the perfect spot for him.

Yup. I'll miss him. :(

The shrinking of the cap and the way Luongo's cap hit wasn't grandfathered in tied his hands.
This off season would be his first real shot at addressing the problems.

I hope whoever succeeds him will succeed, but I have my doubts..... :|

With the way these owners run their franchise, I don't have much faith. Gillis had good ideas and he brought us close. The Canucks under his watch was the best team by far, in Franchise history.

It's painfully obvious the owners forced Torts on him, and rather than admit their mistake they make MG walk the plank. Fine, it's their business and their allowed to do what they want, but I wouldn't be renewing any season tickets (LOL as if I could afford them!) until this franchise starts getting run like a fucking hockey team again.

Dark days ahead, I wager.

No kidding. If Feaster is indeed hired, I will no longer be a Canucks fan.
