Although rumours say Linden may be hired in some capacity as well.
What about Gilman? Anyone comfortable with him being promoted? Or would it be more of the same? Have Nicholson come in as president and Linden assistant GM?
And Gilman to remain Assistant GM.

I'm glad we're all in agreement. Now all we have to do is get everyone in Rogers Arena to chant it during the Colorado game, and it should be taken care of by Friday morning.Strangelove wrote:I like Linden as President and Nicholson as GM.

If Nicholson is the man, pretty sure Aquaman talked him into it weeks ago
... and became the reason Nicholson stepped down as HC head last Friday.
Someone here (Topper?) said Gillis sounded like a Lame Duck in his presser the other day.
Others were astounded by Gillis' unusual candour.
Perhaps Gillis had caught wind of it?

Gillis bended, buying into the idea that maybe a boot camp Mike Keenan style coach in Torts could be the match to light a fire under this veteran groups behinds. It has failed miserably. This team will never be the big bad bruins, that takes years to build that kind of team in this day and age of building a certain style of team in the NHL. You work with what you have and Torts isn't the right coach for this group. I have faith that the Aqualinis see this and have maybe, the 3 spoiled brats have finally learned to stop fucking meddling with the GMs vision.

I think this quickly and effectively repairs any damage to the management's reputation around the league.Strangelove wrote: I like Linden as President and Nicholson as GM.

About as effectively as possible I guess. It was pretty clear a lot of GM's did not like dealing with MG.

Come on, does anyone really like dealing with old British sports cars??BurningBeard wrote:Let's not start slanderous rumors...Aaronp18 wrote:It was pretty clear a lot of GM's did not like dealing with MG.
Re: And So The Axe Falls
Francesco has a press conference, but it's not scheduled until tomorrow. I am going to assume that the delay is so he can introduce the new President/GM tomorrow and talk about firing Gillis all at once.
I can't say I am totally surprised given all of the rumors out there, but I will say that the Italians definitely didn't cut their GM any slack. He missed the playoffs once, and then his head rolled.
If what HW has said is true about how the owners impeded a Luongo trade last year, which forced Gillis to trade Schneider, then well I must say I am concerned about ownership, at least somewhat. This combined with how ownership unrealistically thought the team could compete for the Cup this year.

Maybe, and as HW said, it's sneaky to get a GM in now who WILL ask players to waive NTCs.Aaronp18 wrote:I think this quickly and effectively repairs any damage to the management's reputation around the league.Strangelove wrote: I like Linden as President and Nicholson as GM.

I like the idea of doing a real search for a new GM, and not just handing the job to a guy the fans will love. Linden is a great guy, but, is he GM material????Strangelove wrote: I like Linden as President and Nicholson as GM.

The rumours tend to say Linden would be the (figurehead) President and Nicholson the GM.Tciso wrote:I like the idea of doing a real search for a new GM, and not just handing the job to a guy the fans will love. Nicholson would make a great GM.
Well known/liked around the league and whatnot, knows how to put a team together...
