Now you have correctly put Burrows among his peers. Glad you are beginning to see things correctly.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Doc,

Answer me this:

Do you honestly think this current core has it in them to turn the ship around and win the cup within the next 1-3 years? Even WITH some key injections of youth and/or free agent signings? Perhaps this is where we will have to agree to disagree, but I don't see it.
Not sure what your question has to do with the recent conversation (hoping to miss playoffs equating madness).

But if you check the archives, you'll see that the Great Strangelove wanted the core shaken this past summer.

The Great Strangelove was particularly pushing for Edler/Burrows to be shipped out.

Not sure why one would assume otherwise...
My apologies Doc,

For some reason, I had you pegged as being one of those guys that were optimisticly clinging to the idea that the only reason why this team was struggling, was because of injuries and that "anything could happen" with the Canucks come playoff time (I.e. Get healthy, make the playoffs, pull an LA Kings).

Why?

Very simple, why?

How many years has he been here and when ever has he shown he has the balls to do what is right?
TRADES: Kassian/Horvat/Ehrhoff/Lappy

FAS: Sundin/Demitra/Manny/Torres/Garrison/Hamhuis/Santorelli/Richardson/Tanev/Lack/Fox/Lain

For arguments sake, what if your team gets better, makes the playoffs, and goes on a playoff run?

Would you be happy?

I think you DO care about "the names on the back"... in that you want to see some of them gone.

BTW, wanting your team to miss the playoffs = self-loathing IMPO.

Well I DO believe that anything can happen in the playoffs and that we should always have hope.

The Canucks would have to return to their highest level of play (December) and stay injury-free (no depth).

But it is possible they win the Stanley Cup this year.

Likely?

No.

Possible?

Yes.

BTW, besides Edler and Burrows, this past summer I was in favour of dealing Tanev and Hansen.

Not sure if you would consider those two "core" but I've been wanting a shakeup for a while...

Fair enough.

For the record - I would keep Tanev, but I'd be open to the idea of trading Hansen.

I think Tanev and Corrado will be decent 3rd/4th pairing 'D's for us.

Not including tonight's games

MIN: 15 / 28 (.535)
DAL: 20 / 30 (.666)
PHO: 18 / 26 (.692)
NAS: Can't Reach 95, max possible is 94

If the Canucks go 9-2 the rest of the way, that will give them 90pts

I could believe more in the Canucks to go 9-2 than 2 or more teams out of LA, MIN, DAL and PHO playing below the calculated quotients.

In other words, practically this season is done, the Fat Lady is already singing...

Canucks:
Current: 74 points
Points Available: 20
Max Possible 94

Number of points required to reach 95 / Total points available

LA: 13 / 26 (.500)
MIN: 13 / 26 (.500)

DAL: 20 / 28 (.714)
PHO: 18 / 26 (.692)

NAS - max they can get is 92

So as it stands if LA & MIN play .500 hockey the rest of the way, Canucks can't finish ahead of them.

DAL and PHO are fighting for that last playoff spot with VAN barely hanging on.

PHO Schedule:
HOME: FLA, BOS, MIN, WIN, EDM, SJ, DAL
AWAY: NYR, PIT, NJ, LA, CBJ, NAS

DAL Schedule:
HOME: OTT, WIN, NAS, NAS, CBJ, STL
AWAY: PHI, CHI, STL, WAS, CAR, TB, FLA, PHO

VAN Schedule:
HOME: BUF, ANA, NYR, LA, ANA, COL, CAL
AWAY: MIN, COL, EDM
