^^^Ouch. I have to say, I also had higher hopes for Mallet than how he is turning out - so far. It's not over yet, but doesn't look good.

With Jensen on fire, one would think that we'd reward the kid with his great display of scoring over the last 20 games by bringing him up to a team who completely struggles to score?
I remember Gillis saying at the end of last season. "we got stop cooking our kids on the farm"....hmmmm

Horvat needs to pick up his socks here. I notice Max Domi is really seperating himself from Horvat in the London Knights scoring. Bo seemingly has dried up a little, 1 assist in a 6 goal game for London? It seems lately he's hardly getting any points in London Knights blowouts. What's up?

Horvat plays against the other teams top line every game. He plays a strong 200 foot game unlike Me Idiot jr. Their ppt average is not that dissimilar.RoyalDude wrote:Horvat needs to pick up his socks here. I notice Max Domi is really seperating himself from Horvat in the London Knights scoring. ^^
In the last four games, Bo Horvat has 7 pts & Max Domi has 5.
Horvat was playing through an injury in January.

There's no guarantees w/ any prospects but ya the value of a player like Horvat isn't measured in just points. Ask Sutter.

Ok, Ben Hutton has my attention. Sounds like we have a player there, perhaps a steal in the 5th round.

Yeah, even though he is just a sophomore he is reportedly being used in a prominent role for Maine as the quarterback of their offence. His 13 goals this season tied their school record for goals by a defenceman (school record for goals by a D is held by Dwight Montgomery, Jack Capuano, and Jeff Tory)... and ties him for most goals on the roster - including forwards!ClamRussel wrote:Ok, Ben Hutton has my attention. Also, he has NHL size at 6'3" 200 lbs and even received some consideration for the Hobey Baker. For a pick that was 147th overall in 2012, that is pretty promising.

Re: Prospects Thread 2013-14
This kid's name keeps on popping up - and not just here - for good reasons. Wonder if he can get lured to Utica this summer? No doubt the kid has skill and has size - it's just a matter of whether he can adjust to the tougher pro-style of play. Definitely a kid to keep an eye on moving to next season.Southern_Canuck wrote:Yeah, even though he is just a sophomore he is reportedly being used in a prominent role for Maine as the quarterback of their offence. Re: Prospects Thread 2013-14
Was looking at a few of the College Free Agent UFAs - and one was Surrey's Shayne Taker (Notre Dame) who attended Canuck's prospect camp in 2012...
Shayne Taker
Just turned 24, has NHL size at 6'4" 201 lbs, and here is his coach's description from 2012:
Jeff Jackson, Notre Dame’s head coach, describes Taker as “a kid with good size, good skating ability, who makes good decisions with the puck.” The consensus is that he has unrealized offensive potential, which, when combined with his size and skating, makes him one to watch out for. He’ll need to realize that potential, however, over the next two years with Notre Dame.
This season:
GP 33 G 4 A 11 P 15 PIM 8
