I had to take off after the first period, but Jesus Christ what the hell happened after that? The play in the first period was pretty much even.

Like HW and Topper I keep going back to my expectations from the beginning of the year, which weren't much. Our depth at forward was simply poor to begin the year, and with Burrows missing big chunks of time and Booth not working out, our forward depth has been awful most nights. This won't be fixed by any trade or two Gillis could make at the deadline. Play the year out, see what happens and hope that some of our youngsters who will be turning pro can make an impact.

Samuel Påhlsson is currently busy captaining Modo in the SHL, but if they are an early elimination this spring, he may become availavle in time for the Stanley Cup playoffs...

A good old fashion beating is one thing, you can get over it. But it's all the losses to the California teams. We have played some good games where we deserved better, could have had wins and then we played games where being close was an illusion. We simply don't stack up.

Maybe missing the playoffs would be a good thing, get a better draft pick, get over the delusion that we are still a contender, take away the excuses, hear MG say something different, like this core isn't good enough.

One thing for sure, Lack is a good back up but not yet ready to take the starters job, he may be in a couple of years but not yet. After Lack we are in a real scary situation with respect to goaltending.
The only HW the Canucks need

*putting on my positive Ratski hat*

Chin up H Dub.... I hear you about the Cali teams but this season has been one of the worst puck luck seasons in recent memory.

From Pass it to Bulis http://vansunsportsblogs.com/2014/01/16 ... y-15-2014/:

Let’s take stock of the Ducks’ goals: 3 of the goals were scored with a two-man advantage. 3 of the goals deflected in off Canucks’ sticks. Another deflected off Chris Tanev’s body as he went down to block the shot and it would have gone wide, except for Teemu Selanne inexplicably holding his stick at the perfect height. The first goal came off a fluke bounce off a stanchion that turned a routine dump-in into a breakaway. Everything that could have gone wrong for the Canucks did go wrong, to the point that how the Canucks were actually playing became irrelevant.

--

The worst case scenario that can happen for the Canucks is that they not make the playoffs. Not only would they have to rope off the Burrard street bridge, the Canucks would also be drafting in late teens if not in the twenties.

I still believe that we're a top 10 team and one or two pieces away from being a top 5. Last night was a tri-fecta of fucks. A puck luck fuck, a refereeing fuck and a discipline fuck. But, it was only 2 points. We still got the Olympic break to recharge, Burr's coming back, Edler needs some time to adjust, Luo's going to win gold again and bug eyes is going to get us a PPQB and a top 6 forward. :D

:hmmm:

Yes the Canucks deserved to lose, but the reffing was as horrid as I've ever seen.

You toyed with trollishness for years Dude.

We tried to warn you that it was a dangerous game.

Then you slid... and slid... and slid....

Now you are lost and you have no one else to blame.

RIP Bikerdude.
