Possible, but unlikely.

By the time the Canucks reach a situation where it's possibly a Schneider/Lou situation again with Eddie Lack, it will be extremely close to the part of Lou's contract where he can walk away ( I can't remember the exact definition of the clause, but I think Lou has an out-clause after next season that he can choose to exercise).

Re: Twins on the shoot-out.

I might be in the minority here, but I like the fact that Torts tried to use the twins on the shoot-out. Lead by example......and the twins are the leaders of this team.

Having said that, the twins need a lot of work on the shoot out.

Also - even though he missed, I was impressed with Dalpe's attempt.

If that is the case we need to trade them right now. I don't believe it is. I think the Sedins want to be the best players they can be. Unfortunately, the way the NHL is these days, that has to include the skills competition.

http://www.theprovince.com/sports/Botch ... story.html
“We’ve never thought of ourselves as one-dimensional players,” Henrik Sedin explained. “Growing up in Sweden, we played all situations. We played 5-on-5 on the game’s last shift. (We played) PK.

“We were counted on in all those situations."
I think the Sedins are up for the challenge of being counted upon to lead this team, as much as the possibly can. This team is going to scratch and claw to make the playoffs. An extra 3-5 points via shootout can make or break our season, and if they don't improve their efficiency in the shootout that's our two best players not giving us valuable points.
rats19 wrote:If the twins went in with speed and just let s wrister go they would score 25-30% of the time..
Yep. They out-think themselves in the shootout. Take a page from Edler's book and step into one from 4 feet out. It couldn't be any worse than the pathetic deke attempts we suffered through tonight.

Not so sure dark one. They are smart enough to read the writing on the wall as they age. But they would provide the secondary scoring that is much needed in any great team. It would not undermine their character or integrity in anyway. It would be a vital piece of success and that would not bother them being that as they finish their career

I had to record the SO. I hate watching them live. Took me awhile to get through the recording! That was a long one.

They played a good game. Had some crazy moments when the were out played, out classed, but the had moments where they took over the game. A well deserved two points. A character come from behind against the number one team in the league. Finally some good lack in the SO     although I don't fault Luongo for the ones he has lost in the SO. Just some serious lack of scoring but tonight we got it done.

I really likes how Torts went with three forwards in the OT and hot aggressive for the win. I say why the hell not go for that extra point like that. Really liked it.

A .500 road trip. We salvaged what could have been a disaster and ended up with a respectable result. This is a character win. Almost time for the Xmas break, a little rest and back at it.

Really didn't think we could pull it off. Lack looks like the real deal, early days yet but I like this kid. Maybe we can trade Luongo this summer.   With the cap going up Philly can afford him.

Give RD credit tonight. He was out in full force but in the end he admitted defeat, sort of, almost!

You're right about that, but just the way mathonwy said, it was almost as if he was implying that the twins want reduced responsibility right now.......and want to be second line players right now.

The Sedin's are competitors and want to be THE guy( s) on the team. That's why Torts loves them so much.

In the future, when the twins decline, I agree that they will accept a reduced role and will do what's best for the team.

Nah, it's not the way I said it. Its how you (and Island) interpreted it.

The Sedins are competitors and BY DEFAULT are THE guy (s) on this team. (No sedins = team plumber)

The Sedins are also humans (I think) and a human can not perform at 150% every single time they are at work. Sometimes, you just want to clear your outlook, bring out a bag of cheetos and watch some asian lesbian porn.

The Sedins are also 33 and being good in the shoot out is not their forte. So why force it.

I get what you're saying, but where you're losing me is when you say, "Sedin's are THE guy on this team by default."

The twins are still bona fide superstars and are still first line players. They are the two best players on the team, and are Top 15-20 in the league.

Jarome Iginla in Calgary, in his last days, was the guy by default. The twins aren't anywhere near that IMO.

Two years from now however.......yes.......perhaps that will be the case.

However - Kesler can easily take lead IMO if it ever gets to that stage, and I also think that both Horvat and ?Shinkaruk will be major players for us by the time the twins need reduced responsibility.

The thing is the Sedins are on the record saying they want to be the guys, so I'd have to take them at their word. Pavel Datsyuk is 35, do you think he wants to take a load off in Detroit? There's a reason these guys got to where they are, and it's not through complacency.

They're tied with Jonathan Toews for points (in the top-20 league-wide) FFS. They aren't some over-the-hill washed up players. I guess since they aren't winning Art Ross' they might as well be second liners, eh? Garbage.

You just made my point.

The only other player you mentioned that above that can be classified in the same vein as the Sedins is Kesler and the jury is still out on whether Kesler is injury prone and having an abnormally lucky year this year.

My point is, the scoring on this Canuck team is abnormally weighted. We rely on the Sedins way too much for goals and when the Sedins stop scoring, we typically stop winning. This is very clearly shown in our last two playoff exits.

I think you need to stop thinking that I am criticizing the Sedins. I am not. I am just stating a fact and that fact is we have too many tweeners and not enough legitimate top 6 players.

And forcing our bread and butter Sedins into ALSO being shoot out specialists is stupid in my opinion. If one isn't good at something, USUALLY, one doesn't like being volunteered into doing it. The Sedins are good at what they are good at. Torts should just leave it at that.
