This guy may just turn out to be a diamond in the rough. It's still junior scoring, but I wonder if his offensive abilities were buried by virtue of where he played on the roster.

Gillis may be drafting some keepers after all.

Cassels was one of the top performers at the 'prospects tournament' in Penticton in the pre-season; he had 'hands' and wasn't afraid to be in the 'dirty' areas. If I recall, he seemed to be a decent checker too.

Hey SC, thanks for keeping this thread alive an kicking!

Funny how some players blossom after their draft year - especially in Cassels' case where Boone Jenner left this year. Makes you wonder how he would have done if he had played top minutes last year and if he would have been drafted higher as a result. Not complaining, mind you.

November was good for Horvat, Hutton & Gaunce.
Horvat took his game to a whole new level in the month of November posting 24 points (6-18-24) and a plus-15 rating in just 13 games.
Drafted in the fifth round, 147th overall, in 2012, Hutton is looking more and more like a late-round steal for the Canucks. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound defenseman registered eight points (5-3-8) in eight games during the month of November
Being traded from the last-place Belleville Bulls to the first place Erie Otters will only boost Gaunce's offensive numbers from here on out. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder netted 12 points (3-9-12) in 11 games during the month of November
Less Canucks embarrassment please.
