Also... they just signed Smid in the off season for 4 years. They couldn't dump someone like Nick Schultz (pending UFA $3.5 mil cap hit)?
Every time I look out my window, same three dogs looking back at me.
Who the hell would want Nick Schultz at that kind of money ? A bottom pairing guy at best but they obviously couldn't find any takers for his rotten contract.
Obviously they'd have to package him up with someone to move him. At least with Schultz you just have to carry 3.5 million pro rated against you cap until the end of the season. I just can't comprehend why they'd trade someone who just signed for 4 years, and is arguably a top 4 Dman on their team. Cap is tight though, so you're probably right, no team would take on the contract, or the Oilers weren't willing to part with enough to sweeten such a deal.

With the Oilers clearing cap space, with Giroux having a personable chat with the owner after a game, with the talk Eberle and or Yakupov could be on the move, perhaps a trade between the Flyers involving above said players, and other necessary pieces, could be in the works.
Perhaps we should trade Horvat to NJD. For CS, flip CS to Edmonton for Yakupov and Eberle. We can throw in Alberts

It looks good on them.
